Description:
An ice dragon. A nice dragon. This cold old friend will keep you warm.

Attuned to the weather, they act as the lair's meteorologist, though they seem to have a penchant for over-reporting ice storms. They work with Cinnyris to keep the clan updated on news, and usually proofread Cinnyris's stories before publishing.

Long before Florabrisa was founded, they had been in a relationship with Zaffre and had one daughter, Clash. The two split up but remained close friends, and Kyurem joined Florabrisa early on to help raise their daughter together. Clash is all grown up now, but Kyurem and Zaffre have recently began dating again.

They also have a younger sibling named Kronch who they've always been protective over. They're very close to Acantha and think of her as a sister.

Their daughter Clash calls them "Remy."

Kyurem was hatched as a Skydancer. Since their wings were disfigured by ice magic, they could no longer fly well and found themself feeling much less connected to their original, flight-centric form. They had always liked the thought of being a Wildclaw like their mother, their sibling Kronch, and their best friend Acantha, but Wildclaw scrolls are notoriously difficult to obtain, so Kyurem never seriously pursued the idea, accepting they'd just stay a Skydancer forever. However, their dream of being a Wildclaw didn't go unnoticed by the dragons in their life - after over a decade living in Florabrisa and with aid from a nearby clan, Kyurem was able to finally gifted the magic scroll to become the Wildclaw they always wanted to be! They're still adjusting to their new, slightly larger and less graceful form, but they feel more confident than they have in years.

Background:
Kyurem grew up in a Light clan and always had a curious nature and thirst for adventure. One day, when Kyurem was around 20 years old, they were on duty to watch their baby sibling Kronch. It was a typical sunny day and Kyurem didn't like to stay cooped up, so they took Kronch out for a walk. They have no memory of what happened next, until suddenly they found themself barely able to move, nearly frozen to death. They found Kronch nearby, even more battered up and icy, and with all their remaining strength they were able to get them both to safety. However, the ice magically stuck with them, freezing to Kyurem's horns and wings, making flying almost impossible, and causing them to always feel a chill, in varying intensities. They also found that they had gained new ice powers - Kronch gained ice breath, and Kyurem found themselves attuned to the weather, able to make forecasts. On bad days, they tend to overpredict colder weather and snow because of their own natural coldness getting in the way, but they've worked on honing their skill over the years and their predictions are fairly reliable.

Not long after the ice incident that left them a bit disfigured, Kyurem had a run in with a young, intrepid Wildclaw named Acantha. The two hit it off well, and Kyurem was able to keep up Acantha's fast pace, unlike many dragons Acantha met. They became friends, and with a wanderlust Kyurem had yet to satisfy, they decided to travel together. Kyurem greatly admired Acantha's drive for justice, but she lived for danger and Kyurem just couldn't bring themself to take all the same risks as her. Acantha understood and the two parted ways on good terms, and they kept in touch so Acantha could update Kyurem on whatever daring rebellions she took part in next.

Kyurem continued to explore around Sornieth in pursuit of meteorology, studying the various climates around Sornieth and working on their forecast ability, ultimately landing in Wind. While venturing deep through a bamboo forest, Kyurem had a chance encounter with a large imperial named Zaffre exploring the wilds to find her own niche. They stuck by each other, sharing their different experiences and stories they'd had in their own travels, and teaching each other survival tricks they'd learned along the way. Kyurem hadn't planned to live in the wilderness for that long, but Zaffre was the most beautiful dragon they'd ever seen and they couldn't bear to leave her. The two starting dating and eventually had an egg. They were both very excited to be parents, but soon found out their ideologies clashed a little - Kyurem didn't want to raise a child alone in the wilderness, with no formal education or peers to play with, while Zaffre believed the wilderness gave all the education a dragon needed, and other kids would just slow their child down. Their relationship didn't last very long after their daughter hatched.

They still enjoyed each other as friends, but felt it would be best to live apart, taking turns raising their daughter, Clash, the way they wanted. They hoped this might give her the best of both worlds, but it was stressful for her. When Zaffre founded Florabrisa, Kyurem was greatly relieved to finally be able raise their growing daughter together in a stable environment.

At that point, Zaffre was married to Tamarind. Kyurem was happy that Zaffre found love again, but couldn't deny Tamarind gave them weird vibes. Regardless, Kyurem wanted to resume their friendship with Zaffre and though things were a little different now, they greatly enjoyed each other's company and spent an increasing amount of time together. Some rumors spread about the nature of their relationship, but they did their best to ignore it. Regardless, after a few years tension between Zaffre and Tamarind got to be too much, and the two divorced.

Kyurem supported Zaffre through her turmoil, and their friendship was as strong as ever. However, while not having no desire to act on them, Kyurem still had romantic feelings for Zaffre. Zaffre wasn't interested in starting anything for awhile after her divorce, but as the two approached their golden years, and Clash all grown up and married, they decided try dating again, picking up where they left off almost three decades prior. Zaffre, feeling happier in her love life than she had for ages, has proposed to Kyurem and the two are slowly planning their wedding.

Favorites:
Kyurem has a strong affinity for weather patterns, having once been a traveling meteorologist studying local climates in different areas in Sornieth. They aren't quite as outdoorsy as they used to be, taking things easier in their older age, but they still enjoy resting with Zaffre by the water as she fishes, (though they still won't eat Zaffre's poorly fried meals. Far too inedible.)

When not working on the news reports, Kyurem likes reading historic accounts from other cultures around Sornieth. They also enjoy some light horror fiction from time to time! They enjoy cooking, but these days usually let the clan's kitchen takes care of it for them. They love to spoil their new grandson with cheekrubs and treats.

Appearance:
Kyurem is a short and rather rotund old Wildclaw with a stub tail. They have magical ice that's formed over their horns, as well as on the extremities of their torn up wings. Despite their very cold appearance, their eyes glow yellow, making their Light heritage very clear. They have a single yellow feather at the start of their otherwise icy blue head crest.

Though they enjoy the cold and have a persistent chill, they're not quite as tolerant to it as one might expect and tend to wear warmer clothes and furs to keep their temperature stable. They often wear gold colors, staying true to their roots in the Sunbeam Ruins in spite of everything.
