CLAN LORE

(typing this in 2022 i honestly forgot i wrote any lore in the first place so this is really just here for recordkeeping purposes)

Background Lore:
- Xylon was a Light egg found by a spiral near the Sundial Terrace. Taking pity, the spiral took the egg to their clan in the Windswept Plateau. He had a love of flying through clouds while in the sky, and this enjoyment gave him the curling white markings on his wings.

- Saffron was a Light egg that rolled away from the nest and off the edge of the Sunbeam Ruins. The egg was saved by falling into a puddle of goop in the Tangled Wood. She soon learned to blend in with the shadows and often surprised unwary travelers who stumbled near her foster clan.

- When Xylon and Saffron met, the idea of forming a clan was the last thing on their minds. Xylon had decided to go on an adventure like many of his Windie friends, choosing to go to the Hewn City. Meanwhile, Saffron ran away from her clan and had intended to find shelter in the same area, hoping that her heritage would camouflage her as an inhabitant.

- Neither of the faes believed the area was truly haunted, but Saffron eventually decided to go investigate the strange footsteps she kept hearing. To her surprise, it was another dragon. After setting up decent living quarters, the two agreed on staying together for the sake of sharing resources and safety. The region of the Hewn City they were in was quite barren, and except for the occasional exaltees making their way to the Beacon, the faes only had each other for company. Over time, they found themselves becoming acquaintances, then friends, and eventually partners. When they watched their two daughters step out of their eggshells, they decided the life of isolation was not the life for a growing family. They moved their family to another area, where dragons regularly came for the giggles to find ghosts or awakened spirits. After realizing the family of faes were certainly not undead, dragons would sometimes stay and help them form their new clan or even join it.

OTHER LORE

- The clan lives in the Hewn City.

- The Peacevine Lily was chosen as the clan symbol, as suggested by Brooks. This was because the founders of the clan had been Light dragons who chose to live in the darkest place of the Sunbeam Ruins. The Peacevine, which needs little light to flourish, would represent the thriving of the clan in a place so feared by many.

- Xylon and Saffron were the original clan rulers. After a falling out in their relationship, they decided to step down for fear that their disagreements would affect their reign together.

- Estelle and Cassius are the current clan rulers.

- Kaguya and Jin are kind of like the "tourist guide" dragons who introduce newcomers/visitors to the clan.

- Other than the job above, Kaguya is the clan ambassador. She is the one who handles negotiations with other clans on behalf of her lord and lady. Since she often has to deal with outside clans, she carries her peace dove and olive branch with her wherever she goes.

- Other than the job above, Jin is the clan scribe. He is the one who writes the historical accounts of the clan, from its creation to the treaties. Jin is also a messenger along with Kaguya. Jin, unlike his partner, does not have a dove. Instead, he carries a Peacevine Lily with him, the clan symbol.
