Diana Ladris
—– "Time to do the right thing. Even if it's for the wrong reason." In the first book Diana, who was well fed and still beautiful, was seen as a mysterious beauty who would hold your hand, at least to the Perdido Beach kids. The Coates kids knew her for what she was; a cruel, condescending, manipulative girl, Caine's loyal girlfriend. She stood by and allowed Caine to encased the hands of uncooperative mutants in cement. At the end of the first book her true feelings for Caine are revealed when she chooses him over warm food, shelter, and a Drake-free life. She also has a soft spot for Sam because before the fight happened she sent Computer Jack who had made a deal with her to go warn Sam. Not much is known from the time Diana left Caine's side. She doe not speak of those times. In the second book, Diana was found by Odysseus. Odysseus recalls that it was difficult to spot Diana in the dying light of the day, but his sharp eyes spotted a slight green sparkle in the bushes. Diana was dirty, small cuts covered her arms and legs, and she was hungry. When Odysseus approached her she let out a warning hiss, but Odysseus was not afraid. He shared some of the food he had gathered for the clan. He knew they would not mind. Diana, wary at first, accepted the offered food. It took weeks for Diana to fully trust Odysseus. He came to her every day, bringing food, water, and to check her injures. One day, a warm spring afternoon, as Odysseus Diana called after him and requested if she could follow him to his clan. She had no clan and no family to return to. Odysseus told Diana that everyone at Longest Night would love and welcome her into the family. It was in the third book when Diana and Odysseus were not meant to last. After many failed nests together, Odysseus left. Diana woke to a cold spot next to her. It seemed that the world still had more misfortune to give her. Rouge comforted Diana, rage filling the little Fae. Maw's anger matched his mate's. He sent their Night Warriors (in training) to track Odysseus. Myrkr came forward to offer his help with collecting information about where Odysseus may have gone, but none of the clan around them had any knowledge of where he was or was heading. The Night Warriors returned without finding a trail to follow. Diana now spends her time training with the Night Warriors and Celestial Runners, to strengthen herself against whatever the future may bring. |
