Gravity is an interstellar dragon who used to explore the stars and the expanse of space, completely free. He loved to fly, and he was hardly ever on the ground if he could help it. Flying gave him a sense of jubilant freedom, giving him space to be in his own little world while everything blurred around him, rushing past as the exhilarating experience of flight made his heart race. He never had to worry when he flew.

His origins lie on a forgotten, faraway planet that was once filled to the brim with unique, life-gifting flowers and colorful, enchanted butterflies that pollinated the land, the circle of life among the planet easily balanced. The royal, reigning family shared their enriched energy and life, gifted to them by their Gods and Goddesses, with the butterflies across the land, who in turn pollinated the flowers, which expelled quintessence into the planet’s land and granted life to the creatures living among it. Gravity was the heir to the throne of the land, hailing from the bloodline of the royal family that was able to perform the ritualistic duties which brought forth the cycle of life through butterflies and flowers and the essence of the planet.

As he grew older, his free time became limited. No more running off for adventures or any sort of the free-roaming flights he so loved to do for hours at a time. He had to start placing his focus on his new lessons in order to give him the knowledge of his required responsibilities as the prince who would someday grow into the throne and thus, become the new king to usher on the cycle of life.

Fear and worry clouded Gravity's mind, obscuring his sense of responsibility as the anxiety flooded his body; it was all so much for his young and wild mind to take. He couldn't bear to disappoint his family, or fail under the watchful eyes of the planet relying on him to carry the throne and all essential life. His ritual practice was shaky, tentative, full of doubt. His parents urged him to try harder, doing their best to teach him as he tried over and over again, but struggled to perfect it, even as he repeated it daily, over and over again. Asking the Gods and Goddesses for their blessings, for their help, for anything at all.
So, instead of facing his issues, Gravity flew. He flew and flew, from dawn til dusk, his wings aching from the strain but hardly giving himself a break; he needed to think about something, anything else but the crushing weight of his responsibilities. Flight was his only way out, his only escape from the darkened thoughts plaguing his mind. Gravity flew away from all of his problems, even as he was called for by his people, called for by his parents, their pleas for help falling on deaf ears. Panicked and full of fear, filled to the brim with too much cowardice to be able to face his family, Gravity flew away from his beautiful homeland, full of regret, shame, and guilt.

Without him, the royal family struggled. His siblings were too young to become the King and Queen’s successors, and the elders had already left their homelands in search of new lives. Even as they continued to share their quintessence, their lives were elder, their bodies weary from years of a well-lived life. They had little options left. The planet was withering. Butterflies became scarce as their souls drained away, colorful flowers wilting, once vibrant petals dulling and fading with time. His once beautiful planet was now starved from life, hanging on by bare threads as the King and Queen called upon their elder children to bear the burden for now as they worked to keep the planet alive, but there wasn't much hope, the future seemingly bleak.

Gravity soared through space, away from his entire life, away from everything he had ever known until the Gods above bound him by gravity to stay on Sornieth, without the power to fly ever again as punishment for abandoning his homeland. They ripped away the only thing that gave him solace and comfort in the darkness rooted in his mind.

Gravity now resides in the humble Gleaming Lotus Glen, surrounded by simple flora. He spends his time in quiet now, though he occasionally tends to the gardens in the clan, which always bring up regret, guilt and painful memories, but he feels as though it is a small way to make amends for what he did. If he can at least help keep the flowers on this planet alive, then maybe he hasn’t completely failed his homelands. Cupcake is always willing to lend him a hand and listen to his wistful stories of how his home once was, and Gravity is grateful even if it is hard for him to say it.

He wonders how they are doing now. He wishes he could return, that he could go back and fix everything wrong he had ever done, but no matter how much he prays, how much he asks or begs, his wings will not carry him. He is bound, for eternity maybe, but perhaps it is best he does not return from where he came.

He misses them. He misses the fluttering wings of the beautiful butterflies, the fragrant scents of flowers all around, flying across crystal clear waters and incredible scenery. Memories ring through his mind, an echo of his past, almost like a dark, gloomy reminder hanging above his head.

He wants to go back. Even if just for one moment, he wants to go back and give as much life as he can. He wants to bring back the butterflies and return the flowers to their gorgeous blooms. He would do anything, anything, even if it meant giving up his entire heart and soul to save his home. He would do it.

One fateful night, his wish is granted.

His scales shimmer and shift, morphing into their purest form of golden quintessence, ocean blue eyes watching as a part of his physical soul, his body, is taken. He knows where it is going, as the orb of golden light wisps away into the starry night sky, and he feels at peace. As a weight lifts from his soul, fluttering graces his ears. Color dances across his body, the wings of his homeland’s butterflies becoming his own, a returning gift in exchange for a part of his life, a gesture of gratitude. As Gravity feels his eyes pool with tears, his new wings flit about happily, and for the first time in a long, long time, Gravity feels weightless as he flies through the night.

With his homeland beginning to flourish once more, the guilt and remorse is washed away each night when Gravity offers a piece of his life to his home, and is allowed the freedom of flight once more.

  • Gravity often likes to sit by the water’s edge at night along with his familiar.
  • It is often hard for him to tell his story to those he does not fully trust, so those who know of it are rare.
  • Gravity serves as Ashae's adivsor, next to Orlaithe, though he seems to be learning more from the Guild leader himself than actually advising him on anything.
  • Lalo - guardian of prosperity
