Biography
Caprinae's caretaker, sunflower enthusiast, gardener by hobby
Helianthus shook out his plumage, stray withered petals falling from the feathers along with bits of grass and leaves as he tucked his tools away in his satchels. He proudly surveyed his work, the deep, vibrant reds and oranges of the sunflowers standing out among the green lush forests in the small patch they grew in, near to the guild's gardens.
Giving his gloves a tug to keep them up, he swept away the dead petals of the sunflowers with his tail so that they wouldn't rot and give disease a chance to flourish in the soil. His Cinder Mith trilled to him as it fluttered about the garden of sunflowers, happily rubbing its soft fur along plush petals and picking a few seeds to munch on.
"Remember to let them dry out," He hummed to his familiar. It was tough learning traditional draconic, but his Cinder Mith, Ember, knew native Coatl so he didn't need to speak draconic with her. She chirped back, keeping her handful of seeds tucked close to her mane.
There was a rustle from the patch of sunflowers, catching Helianthus' attention as he turned to see what it was. Hidden by the thick green stems was a hint of brown, shuffling heard as the stems swayed with the movement of a small creature napping among the grass, shaded by the wide, drooping leaves of the sunflowers.
Curled up in a nest of grass was a little brown Skydancer. Helianthus was startled that a hatchling would be away from the nesting grounds, a worried trill ringing from his throat. The Skydancer opened her warm brown eyes, revealing dark, horizontal pupils, and Helianthus hummed to her.
"Are you lost?" He watched her curious eyes gaze at him, over his flowers, and then remembered that he'd have to speak draconic to her, though, he wasn't sure how old she was and if she would even understand him.
As a Skydancer, however, she could sense his energy. The worry was apparent as he nervously looked around for parents, but the young Skydancer got to her feet and trotted over, chirping to him happily. Helianthus picked her up, his tail reaching around to play with her grasping claws as he held her close. He turned in circles looking for parents, and wandered back to the Guild with her. No one recognized her, but they all claimed she was quite cute and that it was a good thing he found her.
As he looked down at her sleeping form nuzzled against him, a fondness grew in his heart as he gazed at her.
"Caprinae." He called her, and from then on, he would be her guardian.
