One must remain a gentleman, especially in the midst of battle.

Once a rich noblewoman's spare son, Ehn despised how every step of his life was laid out for him in advance. He had no interest in joining the priesthood, which would have been the respectable thing to do, and while the Royal Guard would have welcomed him, it would have meant giving up any claim to his title and inheritance, meager though they were.

When a bedraggled pair of mercenaries showed up at his family's keep on the trail of a fugitive from the City, Ehn saw a unique opportunity. He proposed his plan to his mother and her consort: Ehn would go with the pair and, with his family's influence and funding, build a mercenary company to be reckoned with. In return, the Pack would double as an informal information network, keeping tabs on the political and military landscape of the kingdom and funneling that intel back to the family.

Having been somewhat of a hellraiser in her own youth, Ehn's mother agreed - although with the stipulation that the family must never be linked to this new mercenary company. The clandestine alliance has turned out well for all involved, and Ehn has blossomed with his newfound freedom.
