Biography

mist.
"Life's a lie, why not enjoy it?"

I had never been exposed to reading or writing before I came here. My life before this tame clan life was hunting, flying, walking, and fighting.
My family and Wildclaw clan weren't troubled, no, no. It was the way of life.
I was a single egg. An only hatchling. Many dragon parents are shamed, oddly, and grow to hate their hatching when "wegged", as some call it, but my parents loved me. My friends who had siblings were jealous of the life of an only child. It was great.
I lived pampered. Every now and then I would challenge my friends to a duel, not because we were in a fight, but just to grow stronger. (I usually lost.)
Then came the day I had to leave. I was reluctant to leave, but not completely adverse to it. Everyone who knew me used to say that I had the spirit of a Wind dragon. It was quite a coincidence that I ended up in a Wind clan!
I miss my parents and friends dearly, but the gift that I discovered when I arrived to the home of the wanderers definitely made it easier to keep in touch.
What is it and how did I get it? Long story, but we've got time, right?
When I came here, all this apparel was almost immediately thrown on me. I loved it, and treasured it.
I was hanging around in Northwind's den, who was teaching me how to read and write. I knew some basics and could spell out the alphabet on paper and could speed read after getting used to reading, something I hadn't anticipated I could do.
I was spelling out words and only one word could come into my mind.
Pixel.
I had never heard the word before. It felt odd to say, unnatural. I tried to spell it out.
Picsel. Pics el. Pizel. Pixel.
Pixel.

A dot seemed to float out of the paper. I readjusted my glasses, thinking a seeing problem had popped up and rubbed my eyes underneath them, taking care not to blur them. It didn't disappear, and hovered half a wingspan above the surface on which I wrote on.
Pixel.
I wrote it again. Another dot popped up, this one shimmering, unlike the iridescence you see on some dragons. The other dot started shimmering the same way.
I filled the entire page with the word "pixel," continuously written all over. Soon enough a cloud of shimmering dots had gathered in front of me and were rearranging to form what I could only describe as a cloud. It solidified into a rift, a shimmering rip in the air.
Cautious, I backed away and took the paper with me, ripping it apart to shreds. I burned it for further safety.
The dots seemed to burn too and drifted lazily down to the ground and disappeared.
I was left shaken and confused, but grew to learn how to use this strange power.
I called it pixel-shaping. I learned that the dots--the pixels, had their own personalities and variations. They even had certain pixels they would group with, like friends.
I would name them, but that's Byte's job. She should be around here--there you are! Say hi, Byte!
Oh. She disappeared into the code. Code, what's that? I'll explain.
We live in a game. Basically, our lives are a lie, controlled by a more powerful being. Who? We don't know, but I'm meant to represent one of them, apparently.
So what do you do if your life is a lie? Have fun, of course. You can't die. Not even in the Coliseum, despite the myths about it. The worst was exalting. They call it a high honor to be exalted to a deity, but the truth is it wipes you from the site with only a hard-to-find page to commemorate you. Bam. Gone.
But everyone can control these pixels, if they have the will to and are aware of what is around them. There are a few dragons who know they're in a game, myself and Byte included, and two or three more, maybe? But only Byte and I have discovered the power to control pixels. We're not about to show how to other dragons, in case the information falls upon the wrong ears.
Another thing I learned: you don't need a quill to control pixels. I had believed that for a while and even kept the quill with me, thinking that it was magical and would help me do that. It only gives a sense and a better will to control the so-called "universe" of the game.
I collect pixels, too. Hoard, if you will. With enough, you can also use them to make something out of them or control, if you'd like.
You could create something, deconstruct it, and recreate it into something else. In fact, I keep spare pixels in my satchel in case I'm ever in need of something.
To get pixels, we slip into the game code and grab any spare pixels. I'm afraid we may be the cause of those extra pixels or misplaced pixels on dragons and certain pages, whoops... but it's worth it in the end.
Trust me, this power has made "life" way, way easier, and I'm glad.
