Ae·vi·tas
a compassionate and caring mother to all

council member

"'fools,' said i, 'you do not know silence, like a cancer, grows. hear my words that i might teach you. take my arms that I might reach you'"

full lore
personality
Aevitas is a very motherly dragon. She is caring, compassionate, and loving, but she's not afraid to dish out some tough love. She acts as a mother to all the dragons in the caves, taking care of all of their needs and wants. That being said, Aevitas would not hesitate to fight someone if they threatened her or her children. She is tough and a bit rough around the edges, but that's perfect for her clan and children. She also tends to be a bit awkward and touchy, because she has lived almost her entire life in the caves and has grown and developed entirely on her own.

backstory
Aevitas fell into the caves when she was just a hatchling. She tumbled head over heels and hit her head on the stone. She passed out and when she awoke, she just surrounded by darkness. She wandered the caves, lost and confused. As far as she could tell, there was no way out. So, Aevitas did the only thing she could; she made a home in the caves. She gathered scraps and materials that she had found and made herself a little home. It was cozy and quaint and delightful. The caves had peace like the surface never could have. There was no war or contention or evil. It was just stone, endlessly, forever. It was peaceful and quiet, until a stranger roamed in. An odd dragon with scales that Aevitas had never seen roamed in. The dragon was lost and confused and Aevitas took compassion on him. She welcomed him to her home and took care of him. Quae was exactly the thing Aevitas needed to make her home perfect.

job
Aevitas is one of the council members for the empire. She, just like every other council member, dedicates herself to making to best decisions for the empire. As part of her job, she must meet with all the other citizens of the empire to hear what they do and do not like. As the empire is a growing and living organism, it requires the careful hands of strong dragons to guide it into something amazing.

Head of the Cave Dwellers

“I’ve been alone for so long, it’s strange to hear another voice. Even my own makes me uneasy.”
Theme: Sound of Silence

I fell into these caves as a child. I tumbled, head over heels, and landed hard on the rocky ground. My vision went black, blood pooled around me. I woke up, alone, dusted in dirt, caked in my own blood. A small dot of light shone above me, for a moment, before it was covered and I was shrouded in darkness.

I blinked a few times, allowing my small eyes to adjust to the utter darkness. Eerie silence pressed against my ears, deafening me. I pressed the palm of my paw to my head; it was still bleeding. I pulled off a swatch of my cloak and wrapped it around my head. I started to walk down the tunnel; my soft, tender, feet pressing into the rocks. My steps were the only sound echoing down the long tunnel. I could just barely see the walls, allowing me to be able to avoid running into them. Hot blood ran down the back of my neck. I wrapped another swatch of cloth around my head. My head was thumping. I could feel my heartbeat pulsing in the back of my head.

The ground swayed beneath my feet. I pressed my paw against the wall in an attempt to steady myself. I took a deep breath and continued down the tunnel. I walked for what seemed like weeks, before I saw a light. A faint flicker of flame far from me. I mustered what little strength I had left and ran towards it. I yelled at the light, hoping to bring it towards me, but it fell and the dragon holding it scampered away.

I picked up the discarded torch and turned around in a circle. The cave was gray, with veins of gems and minerals running through it. I had no idea that I had been in such a colorful place. The caves, the tunnel, they had been so peaceful. They held no ill-will, no war, no resentment, no contention. They were nothing like the world I had fallen out of. They were better. I began to collect sticks and other such things that had fallen into the caves. I lined the walls with flame. I memorized every twist and every turn. I made the caves my home, taking food I found from dead dragons, eating the small amount of plants and small animals, creating a hub for myself to rest and recover. I made it all alone and I was content to enjoy it all alone.

Then there was new light. There was different sound.

In all my time in the caves, I had never seen another living dragon, until that moment.

What a strange specimen he was. Definitely a skydancer, but that was the only thing that was for certain. His scales had a shine to them, almost like he was made of metal and his wings, they were translucent. I feared that if he hit the wall too hard, his wings would crumble. Breaking across his scales were pearlescent bits, they looked like gems inlaid in his skin. I backed myself into a corner and watched him.

As he got closer, I was immediately unnerved. His eyes were dark red, almost black. I pushed away from the wall and tackled the small dragon to the ground. He wriggled under me in an attempt to escape, but his size was only hindering him. It had been many years since I had spoken, my voice came out raspy and muddy.

I demanded to know how he got in. The strange dragon stuttered as he explained that he had found a hidden tunnel, unfortunately he was trapped in when someone blocked the entrance. I felt pity for the fragile beast and let him free. I told him of my perils in the caves and how I had come to love my life here. He asked me if he could join me in my life of peace and tranquility.

I was hesitant to let him stay. He smelled of the surface and brought with him an air of mystery. After much thought, I agreed to let him stay. I brought him to the hub and gave him a map of the caves. It took him longer than I expected for him to memorize the twists and turns. He was constantly complaining about the sloping floors, saying that it made him feel like he was always about to fall. Despite his stupidity and complaining, it was comforting to have him around. It was nice to have some company, to have someone to talk to. Quaeinfernum was exactly what I needed.
