Zelus has always been a troublesome type, whose pride and strife to be the best have often gotten him into trouble. With no one left to keep him in check or stand up for him once his mother left his former clan to serve the Flamecaller, things soon heated up when the still-young Zelus challenged one of the clan's higher-ranked dragons. His claim to be better suited for the leadership position did not sit well with him and it escalated into a fight Zelus almost won before it was broken up. Being older and having the clan's general support, the clan's council decided in the other dragon's favour and held Zelus at fault for the fight.
He was ordered to apologize and, after refusing to subordinate himself to the weaker dragon, exiled from the clan, traveling the world solitarily henceforth.
Filled with bitterness and anger, Zelus wandered the world, fending for himself and challenging others to acquire provisions, riches and satisfaction through victory, however short-lived it was. For many years, he kept seeking conflicts and rivalry in order to find something to ease his restlessness until he encountered Eris, whose heart seemed to carry the same disquiet and loneliness as his own.
Something about her calmed him and, craving the peace she radiated, he asked her to join him, only to have her refuse due to her own troubled past. He decided to join her instead, which she reluctantly accepted after numerous futile protests, and he slowly gained her trust.
Time strengthened their bond and made them inseperable, then finally leg them to the Luminous Cave and the clan who desided there. They told their story and were granted entrance into the Luminous cave, where they have resided ever since.

Zelus is proud, a perfectionist and incredibly eager to achieve. Always strifing to be the best, he never hesitates to show and prove his greatness, if necessary also in battle. He is easily provoked, however, and never turns down a challenge, especially when he is convinced he will win.

Gold and treasures are his weakness, and he adores all things precious and shiny. If he hadn't been put in charge of his clan's treasure, he probably would have already attempted to snag it somehow. He is very zealous, however, and having been given the role of the clan's Treasurer, he will work hard to preserve and expand the riches - just to show that he can.

While he was a very troublesome dragon in his past, he has changed a lot after meeting his spouse Eris, who has become the most precious thing in his life. She brought him the peace and happiness he sought for so long and he would do anything to protect her. With her around, he is almost lenient, unless provoked.

Some believe the two to be two halves of the same soul who have finally found each other again, maked by the ivory smoke adorning their bodies that connects seemlessly when they sit next to each other.
