Sootglow

Named for the glowing remains that lay in the workshop of his noble trade. His eyes fluttered awake to the smoky black sky, when the fires of the Summit were still breathed solely by dragonkind. He is the Father, giving his wing to dozens of children. He has commanded few of the savage machines assembled by the Forgeworker and the Warlord's tricky, clever minds, and he has brought his clan success in the push to maintain their land.

He began the great think, he, a captain of the smelting fires by the day, but inventing new dragonfires to watch by through the night. He and his fellow flames created the massive system of lights and wires, and whirring iron hearts that illuminate his Matriarch's bastion. He prides himself in his powerful generators and delicate home front contributions, all to keep his clan comfortable in their mile-high hollow mountain, in a heated wasteland where others go missing in the discolored fog. Improving upon the machines of their home is his forte. He draws up schematics right on top of old ones to show how much they've grown since they first came to be, and he keeps watch over the spire with his sharp eye from the many arrowslits carved into the walls, with his claws dug in for support.

As ages passed he refused to command any armies of the Warlord, taking only to humble work keeping the clan's infrastructure alive through his craft and potent fire magic. He has seen countless young dragons born of his line grow to fight valiantly, sometimes to retire - or die. He has helped usher in a new age of power for The Warlord to utilize, bringing strong advances to the war fleet that make them a dangerous challenge for rival clans to compete with. The lands under his wife's control still feel like home, strangely, thanks to the all-consuming glow he continuously gifts to all under his care in the clan.

The Illuminator
Right hand to the clan's Warlord, and inventor of the interior fortress' interconnected lighting system. Operates and repairs generators.
