IMPULSE BOUGHT OC HELL YEAH! She's a Draconid Shifter, found and adopted into a travelling circus. She's...not as fierce as her appearance would have you suggest, really. It's mostly Miss Addison's want of her to look the part yunno? Big, edgy and brutish beast and the like. Her hair's partially dyed and I'm debating whether or not to have her wear red contacts, but we'll see. I originally had her be Maleficent's daughter as a fan character for The Wolf Among Us, but she'd be mostly at 'The Farm' because her glamour wasn't too stable hence removed from a lot of the conflict in the main storyline. Tumblr tags I really wanna breed her because such nice colours but I'm so torn lol because she's an OC ;v; |

NAME: Synestra
NICKNAMES: Syn; Nessa (most common); Burn-Breath; Lizzy/Lizard

SPECIES: Shapeshifter (Dragonoid)

HAIR COLOUR: Purple (dyed) and Black. She wears the majority of it down but her black parts are kept in a high ponytail, and her bangs are loose.

APPEARANCE (Human): Average height; White singlet w/ red open necked top; Dark grey bomber jacket w/ buckles; Black necklace with red rose ornament; Dark grey jeans; Laced boots; Scar over right eye from a tightrope accident; Oval shaped face; Freckles; Slim nose, Pointy teeth.
APPEARANCE (Dragon): Juvenile European Dragon with four legs and one pair of wings. Flared tail with back spikes and small face spikes instead of more prominent ears. Black main body and tail, red eyes, purple plated underbelly and a slight reddish tint on her wings. She retains her eye scar.
PERSONALITY: Despite her spooky name, Synestra is very friendly and extroverted- a people person. She enjoys life best when the circus tent is full, and she gets excited at the prospect of being marveled at. She has a heart of gold, even though she is rather accident-prone and can be incredibly blunt with her words. She also has very little concept of anything overtly sexual, not that she'd be very interested in it anyways. This is in part due to everyone around her tryng to keep her as innocent as possible...and when they gave her "The Talk" she just sort of wandered off. She is treated very much like the baby of the extended circus family, and is both loved and also a cause for many small accidents around camp. As a performer she's learnt not to cry when experiencing pain, though the Scar Incident was an exception. As was learning she was allergic to lillies...because she sneezed fire and burnt down the flower stall at this market they were at. Miss Addison had to pay damages. She wasn't happy. Syn was 7 at the time.
All said and done though, she tries her best to be as awesome a friend as possible, and will do anything for the people she considers close to her as well as strangers in need...apart from give up trying to fly. She's incredibly loyal, almost to a fault, and she's pretty ok with smaller kids too.

DISLIKES: Large bodies of water; Confinement; Being called dumb or words to that effect; Lily flowers (she’s allergic); Not being able to fly yet
WEAKNESSES: Her tendency to be clumsy, coupled with her daring-do/reckless attitude to stunts can lead to injury, or at least destruction of the immediate environment.This, in conjunction with her youth and inexperience as a dragon gets her into all manner of trouble. Also, her overly bubbly, optimistic outlook can be irritating, especially since she has very little concept of personal space or volume control.
She has never learned how to fly or swim, and being in large bodies of water can impede her fire breathing and thermo-control (as well as potentially drowning her), leading her to avoid them both at all costs. She is easily persuaded to do things thanks to her naivety and approachable nature, but you can guarantee she'll ask every. single. question. whilst doing the thing. This being said, she's not entirely stupid. She knows not to go off with strangers or do stuff to people she doesn't want to do.In addition, her chatterbox manner makes her very tiring to listen to after a while if you don't have the patience of a saint.
She's also very stubborn when it comes to learning how to fly. Her mindset is thus: She WILL succeed, it's just another thing to learn, she doesn't need help! Or a safety net! THE WIND IS HER SAFETY NET! Even so...there's a little fear niggling in the back of her mind that maybe she can't fly. That her wings were disabled at birth or that she hatched wrong. No one's said anything about it to her, but no one's tried to alleviate it either because she never expresses it openly. She's the kid, the baby of the circus family- it's her job to be rambunctious and self-confident. She can't let the fact that flying doesn't come naturally to her stop her from doing typical Syn things. If it did...she'd worry even more that her place might be questioned.
BACKSTORY:
A long time ago, a race of dragonoid shifters spread mischief and havoc throughout the world, until one day, a group of wizards decided to stop them. They limited their abilities to shapeshift by bounding them to a singular object of jewelry they had on their person, earrings, bracelets, necklaces and the like. Even the unborn were affected- they were predisposed to be born dragon and become human once the first piece of jewelry was put on them. The shifters could not remove the jewellery themselves. Then, the wizards sealed the race away somewhere secret, untouched by human hands and inescapable, preventing the race from access to the rest of the world. However, a single egg got left behind.
This egg incubated over the years, until, one day fifteen years again present day Romania, a traveling freak show happened upon the egg. Their ringmaster, one Miss Elenor Addison, decided to keep the egg as a display item, and put it in the “mystical object “caravan in a sealed glass container. Of course, this lasted about a day or two. The egg ended up hatching into a small black and red dragon with a purple plated underbelly, which started making a great deal of noise.
Surprised, Miss Addison, of course thinking purely business wise, gave the thing a fearsome name: Synestra, parodying on sinister, pertaining to the creature’s dark coat and red eyes. She fastened a black collar with a rose on it around its neck as flamboyant décor…and the thing turned into a tiny, gurgling baby girl. A novel trick indeed!
And thus, Synestra was raised in Mistress Addison’s General Oddities from then on, trained to give spectacular performances; starting out as a girl, ending up as a “wild beast". In her down time though, she struggles to teach herself how to fly, since no one ever taught her. It doesn't come naturally, but she's gonna keep trying!

One day, she got bored. Of course, she decided to try the high wire act where one must ride a small bike from one end to another. She found a mountain bike. The extra stress caused the rope to snap, sending her flying, and it caught her in the face as it recoiled. Luckily she wasn’t blinded, but it hurt. She didn't cry though because she's tough like that. Ok, maybe a little. She has also learned never to use non-freak show props again.

WHAT A COOL LOOKING DRAGON i love those darker/cool colored dragons with like, that firey accent! it brings the attention tot he accent and sort of makes it brighter! she obviously has quite a bit of personality just seen by the scars and the outfit-- like the layering and the arctic bags really make this dragon amazing.ugh okay, i kinda? have a soft spot for travelling circuses bc it most of the time ties into the "found family" concept, and i just. her lore. so good! SHE'LL LEARN TO FLY! I BELIEVE IN HER! |
