Clayfolk - Smith
-Not flesh and bone, she is made of magma, ash, and flecks of Endless Ice. Due to this, she doesn't have a 'permanent' form.

-"Born" into the clan by Xlotrin while he was passing through as a gift. He also left a mysterious pile of ashes.

-Clan smith who makes all the weapons and shields. Occasionally, she will make little trinkets for the hatchlings.

Sterling never knew a family, not in the traditional sense. She lives with the Dawn of the Bloodmoon Clan and serves them with her abilities to work a forge. Despite her appearance, she has been fully accepted into the clan, getting treated no different than any other dragon. Even though she was created, she still has a soul, allowing her to make connections and form bonds with the local dragons.
Most days, she can be found in her shop, Phoenix Forge, in the middle of town. Her passion shows in her work, from lavish swords to glinting daggers all the way to little metal trinkets for the hatchlings.
Her prized possession is the small pile of ashes that is found in the corner of her bedroom. Everyday, her companion, Firlan, rises from them, reforming into a creature of flesh and bone.

BREAK

Sterling had stumbled into her role as the clan smith. Initially, she had spent her days with her new clan learning how things worked and adjusting to life in her current dragon form. There was quite a lot for her to learn, more than most of the others in her clan had realized, as things that were commonplace to them were entirely new and unknown to her. It was on one of her many tours around the lair that she found the abandoned smithy. She was told that it had been created not long after they settled in the area, with the intention of training a proper blacksmith to be able to fix weapons for them. None of the dragons in the clan at the time had any interest in blacksmithing, however, and the smithy had remained abandoned ever since.

The area intrigued Sterling, and she ended up going back, day after day. She started by cleaning up the area, then researching the various tools that dragons seemed to think were necessary for shaping metal. With her unique biology, Sterling was quite capable of melting the metal simply with her touch if she willed it. That tended to lead to melted metal on her claws, so she stuck to using the dragon tools. Her first weapon, a small knife, was improperly balanced and barely sharp enough to cut a loaf of bread, but she remains inordinately proud of it. The little knife still hangs on the wall in her smithy, as a reminder of how far she’s come with her craft.

Sterling puts a bit of herself into each of her weapons, whether it is a special design on one, or a bit of ruby or other gems that she could crystallize with her magma as a decoration for the hilt. Each weapon is important to her, and Sterling has been known to refuse commissions if she feels that the dragon approaching her is too cavalier in their approach to the weapon in question. Making shields is still a newer skill for her, but she practices quite often and any that she doesn’t find fit for proper battle will be melted down and turned into trinkets for any of the hatchlings in her clan. Any dragon who knows Sterling would tell you that she is happiest in her forge, drawing up plans for swords and other weapons of all shapes and sizes and then creating them flawlessly.
