Even If It Hurts

______One of the founding trio of Moonkeep, Doxa is older than the very Fort and in just as good shape, if he says so himself. Given the gift of an exceptional lifespan, Doxa is aging, but not in any hurry - he has seen generations come and go at Moonkeep, and he will see many more before his time is up.

Some seasons are harder than others, but Doxa finds constant pride and purpose in the community he helped create; he is content to live simply as a member of their ranks, having long since abdicated his leadership to the succession of Nightmothers. He keeps a benign and relatively unobtrusive profile (newcomers often don't realize his legacy until they recognize him on the tapestries hanging in the Great Hall), but he knows more about Moonkeep than any other dragon can claim and has served as a firm right-hand man for many Nightmothers. In return his opinion is held above all others.

Doxa pointedly befriends all of the Fort's ghosts, forging a certain kind of fellowship with those who have also thrown in their lot with Moonkeep for the long haul, and although his relationship with Moonkeep's other founders is as complicated in death as it was in life he alone can coax them into public when they are feeling reclusive. Of the living, he is closest with Amaris and Eclipse's General Constance, and is overwhelmingly besotted with his mate Honey, still unwilling to face the fact that he is fated to outlive her.
