Biography
Her life was as fragile as a snowflake
A delicate crystal of snow
From the moment her heart started beating
Her death was made known
She was destined to die
Without ever seeing the light
Her life was to end before it started
Fated to dwell in eternal night.
But though her thread of life was thin
Though her heart pulsed weakly and quiet within
Her parents, resolute, refused to give in
And nursed her with her sisters; they were triplets
"She will not survive this," the healers said; told them so
Yet the mother insisted, "Unless we try, you won't know."
So within her the sisters slept together; children of the same blood and bones
Dreaming of comforting darkness
Warmed by the hearth of hope.
But when the day came, as it surely would
There was no way to save her with the skills which the healers could
As two of the sisters came to the world
The third stayed hidden; trapped within
She knew something was happening, just out of reach
A life of warmth, of love, of things to learn and teach
She struggled, she fought, as her mother did the same
As the nurses begged her, called her name.
But even as the unborn sister struggled, her life faded before her eyes
Showing her the future that she'd been denied
Fate is cruel, you know, no matter how hard you try to fight
Some things are never meant to be
She was never meant to have a life.
When the ordeal was over, she'd seen brightness for the first time
Felt the coldness of the air before her eyes lost light
Thought about the world before her mind could become bright
Lived knowing she would never survive till fortnight.
And as the mother cried out her name
She felt the warmth of her sisters, different but the same
She heard her mother's voice for the first and last time
Before the Reaper told her, "You are mine."
Years passed after that fateful day,
The sisters lived on though she'd passed away
To them, her existence, her mother never did convey
But for some reason it's as if her spirit had stayed.
For the sisters could feel a presence watching over them
And one of them told her mother, "I have a twin."
"You mean your older sister? No? What do you mean?"
"Mother, she looks just like me."
For you've never quite passed, as long as someone knows
As long as memories of you don't fade like footprints in the snow
Her future was lost, but her spirit stayed aglow
She was always there, in autumn leaves and spring indigos.
She was always with them, though they didn't know
She always protected them, even if it didn't show
She stayed the same though her sisters grew
Always alive even if see-through.
Live on, my sisters
Remember you are loved no matter what you do
As the Eleven watches over us all
I will watch over you.
