Strung between the dry mud wall and a support beam for the staircase, a small hammock sags under the weight of blankets and books. The biggest pile of tomes is covered by a huge and comfortable red and purple knit blanket, its tassels hanging down to trail across the floor. Dwarfed by the blanket, a fae can often be seen perched on top of the mountain, swinging from side to side and running his nose along line after line of tiny text.
One of Vrie's main - and only - patrons, Cave copes with the cluttered and hectic life of the Brambles by burying his nose in books. Used to the wild and dangerous freedom of far more rural lairs, the claustrophobic city has driven him to the life of an anxious shut-in. He frequently wears ear cosies to muffle the endless clamor of the alleyways, and only leaves his post to send and receive letters from various contacts in the Quarantine Zones.

Trained in diplomacy by his long time mentor, Darvena, Cave used his skills of negotiation to take up collaborative research, becoming one of many agents traveling between the Quarantine Zones and the Pox Consulate to study the effects of Plague and Nature in tandem. When Centurion rose to power, he was forced to cease his travels and renounce his association with Plague to avoid a death sentence, struggling to maintain his pacifism during the war.

After Centurion's fall, Cave found a position assisting with the research endeavours of the Oculus of the Eleven. He uses the opportunity to travel as much as possible, finding relief from the city in his yearly pilgrimage to the Dusk Sanctum.
