Biography

"Pain is a whetstone. It may destroy a blade, or hone it. It depends on how it is handled."

The youngest child of the clan's Seer, Minerva was raised by her father after her mother left them when she was but a hatchling. Though he went to great lengths to raise her with care, the abandonment left a scar in the young dragon's heart. But hardship reveals strength, and strength reveals potential - potential that did not escape the attention of the Order of Dawn's Talon. Driven in equal parts by boundless compassion and a deep-seated need to prove herself, Minerva quickly became one of Aurorus's best students.

Though every good deed done had meaning, and spurred her ever on, she still yearned for an opportunity to accomplish something truly grand in the world. All she needed was a worthy quest - and one day, she found one, in the form of a vision granted by the solitary oracle, Augor. Dark spirits had been released from their prison and threatened the safety of the world; Sornieth needed heroes, brave dragons willing to put themselves in harm's way to subdue the spirits.

DUQnw7a.png Minerva wasted no time answering the summons. She arrived in the oracle's cave, along with many like-minded dragons, unsure what to expect - but ready to give her all. She held her head high and met Augor's gaze, and the vision of her quest filled her mind and her heart. This was what she had been waiting for.

The paladin threw herself into her task. She wracked her brain, drawing upon all her education and wits to crack the riddle, and all her training to subdue and capture the spirit. So she went on for days, living for the rush of the eureka moment, the thrill of victory - and, soon, for the anticipation of her next meeting with the kind and mysterious oracle.
She never expected that he would notice her. She was one paladin among many. But notice he did; as their task drew to a close, and the dread of departing settled over her, he approached her with an idea. Reaching out to the would-be heroes of the world had been taxing for him - but the event had proven that such a collection of dragons could effectively respond to the crisis. Augor proposed formally establishing a network of paladins and seers across Sornieth, who could respond to future threats wherever they may arise - and, impressed with her intelligence, bravery, and determination, he wanted Minerva to be one of his Captains.

The Skydancer graciously accepted the offer, becoming the official envoy between Augor's elites and the Order of Dawn's Talon. Her ongoing work with the Pearlcatcher as his primary operative in the Sunbeam Ruins forged a close bond between them, and they visited and wrote one another even when not defending the land.

tCqw6LL.png One day, a letter arrived, but rather than personal correspondence or matters of security, it contained a riddle, much like the ones the paladins had solved during their efforts to contain the spirits. She immediately set to work deciphering it, and quickly came to an answer that took her by surprise. The riddle was a love letter.

Minerva went to meet Augor without delay. These words could not be exchanged in writing; she needed to see him face-to-face, to hear him confirm her conclusion, to tell him she felt the same. He was waiting for her when she arrived, not because he had foreseen that she would come, but because he believed she would.

From that day on, they would protect Sornieth together, not just as allies, but as mates. They wouldn't have it any other way.
