Bastion is a firm believer in the means justifies the end: whether you reach success or not, the venture is worth it if you pursue your goal with an open heart. He is kind in nature, and prefers to avoid conflict at all costs. His mate, Kiyomi, teases that it's because he is yellow-bellied and cannot win a fight on his own to begin with. It’s a wonder to many how someone like him managed to win her heart. It began with a mystery novel he wrote, featuring Kiyomi as the protagonist. They would juggle ideas for the plot, conjuring possible twists and complexities for readers to solve. It was a pleasant surprise when Kiyomi found a proposal to her written in the finale.

Bastion’s interests include reading and writing, as well as solving riddles. He is a detective by trade, so deciphering puzzles off the top of his head proves to be a simple feat. Bastion takes pride in his superb intellectual capabilities, as well as his desire to learn. Unfortunately for him, Bastion is pretty awkward when it comes to starting conversations and standing up for himself. Fearful of confrontation as he is, Bastion does not let his insecurities hinder his responsibilities. He can be surprisingly reliable and a hard worker, though only under the most dire of circumstances. At least he can look forward to cozying up at the end of the day, cup of tea in hand.

Kiyomi was always the more confident and outgoing between the two, so her current predicament has left him equally lost. He has leaned on her for support for far too long, it seems. It’s now more important than ever for Bastion to retrieve his latent strength and uplift his beloved partner.
