Biography
Ruvlom
Shy / Gentle / Solitary
Shy / Gentle / Solitary
It was not hard to find friendly welcoming clans, the realm was covered in them. But the simplicity of having a place to call home became a different matter when born a bit different from the rest. The tale of a dragon on the 'sensory avoiding' range of the autism spectrum.
|
Hatched in a uncomfortable rocky place, the arcane tundra immediately felt an overwhelming pressure, as if the air itself was assaulting him. All around him strange dragons of all ages talked, worked, argued and played — a cacophony of roars and squeaks filling the lair. No adult dragons claimed him as their own and Ruvlom was eventually told that the lair keeper had found his unhatched egg lying by the roadside. Forced to adjust to the harsh reality he found himself trapped in, it was all the tundra could do to survive in the first weeks of his life.
He quickly hid himself in the least visited corner of the lair, behind a stack of unused crates, often being overlooked when it came to meals. There the young dragon began to gather items, his treasures, building a collection that brought him a sense of delight and pride. It was only after becoming an adult, gifted with genes by the lair keeper, that Ruvlom began to consider leaving the unpleasant crowded place to find a more peaceful home. Gathering his possessions with the inmost care he quietly slipped away when nobody was looking. |

It was a week later that Ruvlom was found by a group of travelers. Half starved and wandering the ruins of the Hewn City alone, his first instinct was one of relief. This soon changed when a giant guardian questioned his origin in an angry voice, tail thwacking the ground loudly with impatience. Ruvlom attempted flee the terrifying situation, overwhelmed by the confrontation and intrusion into his quiet. But his panic was soothed by the gentle singsong voice of a glittering tundra female. Sending the others away she stayed with Ruvlom, slowly encouraging him to speak with her and tell her his story. After many hours a sense of trust was established and he followed her cautiously to the Light lair she called home. The Bastion became his new lair, and at first it seemed he could finally relax and find his place in the world. His new friend, Tinuviel, was patient and understanding, doing her best to ease the difficult moments. Together they established a way to communicate that was non-confrontational and after a time Ruvlom began to feel comfortable talking to others in the clan. As he matured he learned what situations would set off his panic and how to cope with them. It was difficult, the Vigilight clan being filled with outlandish personalities and The Bastion being a bustling centre of trade. The days turned to weeks and eventually months, yet still the tundra wasn't completely happy. Soon would come the day when once again Ruvlom would venture out in search of the perfect home. |
