Tundras are notoriously forgetful, but Sastrugi strives to break the mold. When he isn't talking with clan leaders and other flight diplomats, he's writing--currently, Sasu has an entire shelf full of handwritten history on the clan. From the day Sakura and her original posse settled down to the day you meet him, he has it all written down in tidy handwriting. At the end of a long day, he'll sit and read an old story, doing as best he can to commit it to memory.
Born to a nest in the Sea but living in the Southern Icefields for as long as he could remember, Sastrugi longed for warmer weather and a change of scenery. White, white, and more blinding white grated on his eyes growing up, and if not for his breed-standard nose there were many times where he would've been lost to the snow in his travels and unable to find his way back. At the first possible opportunity, the Tundra took flight, gliding alone across a frigid ocean until he found himself on warm, windy grass--the Windswept Plateau. It's here he found Sakura and hit it off with her and Vrael from day one, growing tight-knit with them in their travels.

Feelings are hard, and as far back as the week he joined Sakura and Vrael he's been infatuated with both of them. Not once has he told them; Sakura's waiting for the right one (he's sure she can do better than him) and Vrael met Vasyl and the two Pearlcatchers have been inseparable ever since. He doesn't mind; he's more than happy just helping to keep the two safe. In their most vulnerable moments, Sastrugi will stand by their sides, just as they would for him. Often, Sastrugi will set up outside her den as a guard while Vrael makes sure she's safe and comfortable inside as she nests, and while Vrael lets her repay him as a surrogate mother Sasu insists that as long as Sakura is healthy, he's happy. Her company is payment alone. When it's time to work, and Sasu isn't busy writing or making connections, he'll stay with Sakura as an advisor--he's got more political experience, and will do what he must to guide her and help her keep her standings.
As a diplomat, Sastrugi sometimes has to travel. Usually, this means a long, long flight back to the Icefields, but in his years he's learned he no longer needs to fly alone. Balrog, a muscular sentinel of a Wildclaw, is one of the clan's border guards. For his own safety, and for the company on the long trip, Sastrugi will get Bal out of duties for a few days to escort him down to the freezing biome, and the silent soldier is happy to play the intimidation game by Sasu's side. |
