Vrael (pronounced like 'frail') is loud, brash and bold, proud of his deep colors and glimmering scales. He enjoys dancing, especially with and for his lovely husband, Vasyl, and knows how to move in a way that makes the light dance off his scales in a way that dazzles his audience.
Hailing from the Sunbeam Ruins, Vrael's innate love for knowledge is unavoidable. That said, he's never had any interest in the history of the ruins or the societies who created them long before dragonkind; instead, Vrael left home long ago to learn everything he can about the art of dance. All his life, he's been travelling, stopping anywhere he can to meet teachers and get inspiration. Eventually, he found Sakura and Sastrugi, and he knew his journey was nearing it's end. As time went on, he and his friends found a place to settle in, and he knew that he couldn't leave them even if he wanted to. So, he started his own dance studio--though it's more like an exotic dance club at this point--and found a mate in Vasyl, who performs with him using his voice instead of his scales. The student becomes the teacher, and at night when the older audiences come in he brings Incognito on stage to dance with instead, shimmering scales and silks working in contrast to show off everything he's taught her.

The same would be true for Vrael and Vasyl. Since they first met, the two hit it off, growing close as friends until one day, Vrael looked over at the darker Pearlcatcher and the world froze. He'll never forget the way Vasyl sounded when he laughed that day, soft and musical and raw in a way he's only ever heard a few times before. Every day now he strives to hear that laugh again, and each time he does, he falls head over tail all over again. Sakura and Sastrugi have been by his side since day one, and he couldn't ask for better friends. Sometimes when he isn't at work or with Vasyl, he and the others will sit around a fire and talk about the past. Sometimes they'll help Sakura with food after a hunt--they're looking to hire food-savvy dragons, he swears. Usually, he'll be by her side while she's gravid in her nest, making sure she's comfortable; she serves as a surrogate mother for him and Vasyl pretty often, but even if they arent his eggs he wants to make sure she's okay while she lays. Sastrugi stands guard during these times. A few years ago, Incognito came to him, wired for sound with unspent energy; jewelry work day after day made her restless, and she asked to be taught to dance. So he did--he taught her everything he's learned, and now she's skilled enough that at night she'll step in as his dance partner for a performance. Art: x by me |
