_{The birth of a Primal dragon can be taken in many, many ways.

To some, it's a blessing. A sign from the reigning god that a clan is thriving or blessed and that the god is happy with the clan's growth. In some regions, the number of Primal dragons in a clan shows how long it's been around, how much it's grown over the centuries--to them, a clan with more than a few Primal dragons is on par with a god's shrine. These positive outlooks reflect the views of most dragons of this clan, including the leader herself, and Ruriske, who's convinced that he'll be a medical prodigy--she points out that the magic floating from his eyes like mist is incredibly similar to the green magic of healing dragons like herself, and thus seeks to take him as an apprentice and raise him to great medicinal power.

To other dragons, it's a threat. A sign the gods seek to smite them for some unspoken sin, or that a war is coming. To some, like Ryaff, the threat is more personal. The Wildclaw sees the young Primal as a danger to his goals, his allies. He's certain that if this Mark of the Windsinger is not contained, he will bring him down along with his plans and so he seeks to take him in and groom him for his own purposes or else bring him down before he can do any damage.

As a hatchling, Barukh didnt understand the potential of being a primal. He still doesn’t, really; is it so special to have this connection to the Windsinger? Surely other dragons must hear their gods' words. They’re like echoes in his mind, whispering instructions and warnings and sometimes just making idle chatter. Perhaps the old god is lonely, wherever he is. Barukh thinks he would like to find him someday, to meet the great dragon who murmurs such sweet things in his mind.}
