Memories. They seemed so odd, so easily .. manipulated. But there he sat, lost in them, quietly replaying different moments in his mind's eye. He couldn't seem to remember his parents faces. They appeared only as shadows within the memories. Their voices though, he remembered their voices. His mothers voice, he could hear it clearly as she spoke to him. He was but a child then, a small hatchling. He didn't understand what was happening. He remembers his mother speaking with the leader of a different clan. They discussed strange things, such as sending him off to live with this other dragon's clan. Shortly after the strange dragon scooped him and they left his home. It seems like that was ages ago now.

Midnight. A soft voice trilled through the silence. Are you daydreaming again, boy? He recognized the voice before ever seeing it's source. Gleam approached him from behind, her voice louder this time. MIDNIGHT. Back to your training, we don't have time for your daydreaming. Gleam groaned at her student.

Yes, Commander. I apologize. The younger guardian nodded out of respect for his teacher. I'll return to training right away.

The young male didn't know it, but his skills would be needed much sooner than anyone could have anticipated.
