B I O G R A P H Y

She remembers the night it happened. Vividly as though it was yesterday.

The night was unbelievably clear, the air crisp and cool like the ring of a silver bell, as she made her way home by light of the full moon. Evening mass had finished a couple hours ago, but she stuck behind to help clean up and help with the last bit of prep for tomorrow's big event. A harvest festival. Everything was planned out to be grander due to the wonderfully bountiful yield. While keeping mindful of their larders to last them through the winter, all the townfolk spared no expense. Stalls had been put up throughout the town square and decorated. It would be a beautiful day of fun.

As she was about to reach the intersection, she was jerked violently to the side by an unseen form and dragged straight through to the forest. Shock and pain frozen her as she flew across the ground and brush. She looked to her attacker and saw a massive wolf with her arm in its maw. Screaming when it finally stopped to look at her, its ice blue eyes strangely afire as it dropped her arm and lunged at her. She fought it to the best of her ability, but was no match. It was fast and intelligent. Each time she tried to flee towards the town, it leapt on her and bit her. Its growl resonated deeply and she could feel it in her bones. Leaning against a tree, she could see the town as it slowly faded as she lost consciousness.

The matron opened her eyes slowly and shook her head to clear the memory from her mind. How long has it been since then? Four? Maybe five decades? How time has passed... She had not felt better in all her life as she stretched. Her hazel gazed at her subjects before her. They came all walks of life, but most were from the prior Alpha's reign. If there was any anger or distaste towards her, they did not voice them. Flicking her thick and dark hair over her shoulder, she rose from the throne and strode past them. The air danced with their excitement despite the silence of the room. She was wont to upholding this tradition, which has never been altered, because it was hunting night and the pack was in need of fresh blood.
