Personality
Meenah is the mate of Kankri and the main leader of The Clan of The Cursed. While Kankri is more boisterous of the two, Meenah is the one they really fear. They say she once persuaded a fire dragon to throw himself into the water with rocks chained to him, thus killing him. They say she has the angler bulb to ward away people rather than attract them. She's a dangerous one. The bulb that she wears is the only piece of apparel she has, but she wears it well. Meenah has a few scars on her wings, caused by sparring with foes in the coliseum.
While Meenah has never officially run a clan, at her old clan she was in a high point of command. Or at least, she was until the accident happened. But before the accident, she ran her clan with a tight grip. Pulling the strings from behind the scenes and making sure everything ran just how she wanted them to. Early Life
Meenah was born in the way all dragons are normally. She had a mother, she had a father, her hatching went normal and she had no siblings. The clan was slightly on the smaller side, under 50 dragons which kept them firmly in Emberglow Hearth. One of the issues that kept their clan so small, was the fact that their clan leaders at the time had incurred the wrath of The Flamecaller. So every single batch of eggs that was born, all but one was killed. Meenah’s clutch was odd, since there was a flame constantly surrounding Meenah’s egg, engulfing it but not burning it. Even as the blaze reduced the other three eggs to ash in the nest. Her egg hatched barely a day later.
Meenah looked normal as a hatchling. Her life was also normal; her parents loved her, she was semi popular (hard not to be in such a tiny clan). But everything changed for her when she reached maturity. Dragons in her clan had been cursed by The Flamecaller for various slights and offenses, and then, they stopped being cursed. The burns disappeared overnight, the numb limbs regained feeling. But, in the morning, Meenah was afflicted with their curses. The clan was wary of Meenah when they realize that she’s a Curse Taker, and after discussing, her parents agreed that she shouldn’t stay in the clan that seemed to be a beacon for getting cursed. They didn’t want their sole surviving offspring suffering through that, so they sent her away. And away she fled, flying day and night until she came across a lava lake at the bottom of a crevice. She dug herself a nest and slept, only to get awakened (her numbed and cursed limbs now healed) by another Fae dragon. The Fae dragon was Kankri, another outcast. And together, after learning of the other’s curse, they decided to start a clan. To turn their curses into blessings. To bring a new hope. |

Current
Currently? Meenah’s still alive, thankfully, and is currently leading a clan (along with her now long time mate Kankri). While she’s had a nest with him, she didn’t feel cut out for the motherly life, so she hasn’t hatched any eggs since. She doesn’t mind that her lover has other nests, as long as everyone in the clan knows that *she* is his mate, first and foremost. She’s more focused on the leading aspect of co-leading, rather than population. While she knows that Kankri can heal the plagues and curses affecting their clanmates, she doesn’t like him doing it. Meenah would much rather take the curses upon herself and have him slowly work on her, rather than have him tire himself out taking it away from a mortal dragon all at once. While she doesn’t enjoy taking the curses, she knows it’s part of the job. She’s, in fact, glad that she can help dragons in need, and welcomes any newcomers with open arms. Though, she can’t really complain about her immortality. Kankri and her both know that they’ll be there when their children’s children pass on, and they’re fine with that. Not fine exactly, but they’ve come to peace with the fact. Meenah doesn’t want to have any more children because she doesn’t want to see more of her children die than necessary. She already has to witness the death of 3 of them (the fourth of the batch having fled to a plague clan) and she doesn’t think her heart could take another one. After taking all types of curses from all types of dragons, Meenah’s mental health leaves much to be desired. She wakes from nightmares on the regular as her curse taking gives her an insight of the dragon’s memories. Why they were cursed, who they were before getting cursed. Not to mention the remnants of helping those almost taken by The Shade, which sometimes affects her in times of great anger. But she will survive, and her descendants will survive. That’s what they do. |

Trivia

Meenah keeps the company of a Dark-Tufted Sparrow Mouse most of the days, but sometimes (when there’s familiars without a dragon to bond with) she takes it upon herself to bond with them all. She wears an angler bulb on her head in memory of the time that she battled a water flighter and that’s what they left behind. While she might not be the most charismatic, Meenah does have a reputation of being oddly persuasive (which people put up to the bulb dangling back and forth in front of her eyes). She also keeps live embers in her nest during the colder nights (thankfully she doesn’t use dry kindling as nest packing). Another thing she hoards is hardy antlers. They line her nest and keep it in a proper shape, and their strength is a real help so that she doesn't break them. Enchanted candles are kept in alcoves to light up the back room of her two-room den where she retreats when suffering a curse. She's one of the first trainers in the coliseum, and she spends most of her time there, which led to her tail being damaged and needing wrappings.
