______ The Gods are not as benevolent as they seem. There are prisoners entombed in blocks of ice and chains of Frost underneath the tundra. But let us take a look at a specific clan, deep within the mountain of nothing but ice. Erfrierung was it’s name, heralding the slow death awaiting all non-ice or fire dragons who lived there. Fire was blessed by the Mother, running too hot and fast for ice to catch up. And Icewarden would never harm his own charges, at least, not accidentally.

Gloine was a guard at first, his ward was a prisoner named Cadwyn. She was a Skydancer, imprisoned for crimes against the leader. Cadwyn was angry, she was angry from the moment she had knocked her way out of her ice covered egg. There was no mirror directly in her blood, but you wouldn’t know from how loud she scree’d out. Angry and wanting attention. Cadwyn’s story will be told on her own. All that is needed is to know she was put into chains and tossed into the dungeon. And all that was needed for Gloine to find his charge was to hear his sharp tongue crow at him from behind bars. To see the fire in her white eyes even as icicles formed on her jaw. And at that moment, Gloine knew that he had to break her out.

The breakout was horribly planned in all honesty. It was them against all of Erfrierung, but that was enough for them. The escape is for another time, but it will be told. All that needs to be said for Gloine is that he soon found himself bound in front of the Icewarden himself. Icy fingers of frost found their way into his neck, filling him with an icy liquid that fought against the fire running through his veins. He choked on it, it pouring out of his mouth until the ice symbol appeared floating over his head.

After that he was sent out to wander the fjord with Cadwyn, and they were not expected to survive. But never doubt Maudit’s dedication to saving wayward curse sufferers. While their main searchers could not step foot or wing into the Icewarden’s lair without risking imprisonment, but with Koia looking through the eyes of Hal, they could get the job done.

______ Hal was good at differentiating shades of white, which was good because when he found the two they were cuddling under Cadwyn’s wing. Taking the two of them back to the warmth of Maudit, Hal was easily able to realize that their relationship was not so. Confronted about it, Gloine whispered that he was gay, and that Cadwyn was a lesbian as well. Hal merely nodded, explaining that really everyone in the clan was like that as well. When they arrived in the caverns, Gloine was the first to meet the leaders. Meenah and Kankri took the ice out of his veins, leaving it only in the hollow of his neck and chest. But it was no longer killing him.

It didn’t take long for Gloine to get used to Maudit, even having a clutch of four children with Kankri. Of course, that fling didn’t last long as the leader began to dedicate himself more fully to his job. Gloine flirted with another dragon, this time a Ridgeback named Igneous. After having three guardians together, Igneous left Maudit to work in the forges of Flamecaller. But now, he’s finally found a mans that won’t leave him: Hal.

Of course, that isn’t all there is to Gloine’s life in Maudit. He found a new charge, having moved on from the forced (and yet still real) charge of Cadwyn. His charge is now the clan itself and the land it’s founded under. Gloine took a small trip to the Starfall Isles to learn magic, coming back with knowledge of abjuration magic. Carrying around herbs needed for his spells, he decided to outfit himself in the strange garb that only arrives once a year. But he has a husband, and children, and he is happy for once.
