Biography
gotta rewrite this dragon's whole backstory. mostly based on whatever the heck i wrote in 2018, now with slightly less mary sue-ism! just barely, though!!!
Chroma's unhatched egg was stolen by Plague breeders. There, he had hatched, and was forever tainted by the Plague element. The crimson eyes are a dead giveaway; but the Rot did not touch him, it had not accepted him. Despite this, the exalting clan did not throw him out, they continued to raise and train the hatchling for one sole reason - to be exalted, and serve the Plaguebringer. Then the Plague tainted him once again - his body covered in scars from endless combat training, face torn by the claw of a dragon (there is no apparel item to represent this). But his wings remained untouched, as ordered by the Lanistas (gladiator trainers) - for he possessed a talent that the Plague dragons admired greatly; the skill to adapt and change. Chroma's wings can change in color, much like a chameleon's scales. Even if his body was scarred from from head to tip of tail, he could still cover himself with his wings and hide from the enemy. The perfect chance for a deadly ambush. That's how the breeders saw the gift of Chroma's true element. To strike first means to win.
And strike first he did! Chroma ran away as soon as he had enough strength to fight for his life - and win. He never looked back. The disciple was never loyal to his captors nor their deity.
Heavily wounded in the fight for his freedom, he fled to the Starwood Strand. There, he came upon a Talonok clan. They saved his life - it wasn't a choice guided by good will, but rather a practical one - they simply needed protection from the ever-growing dragon clans that contested their territory. And the young dragon knew well how to kill his own kind.
Despite this, the wildclaw seemed to fit in well with the Talonok society. He studied the religious scriptures and seemed to think of himself as their comrade, one of Beastclan's proud warriors. And he often felt shame for being born a dragon; one of these barbarious beasts, who sow nothing but death and destruction in the name of their heretic deities.
But are all dragons really like this?
Chroma's belief in this had faltered when he met two young mirror dragons hunting in the Starwood Strand. They seemed to mean no harm, and even explained to the wildclaw that their home clan serves no deity - and, in fact, gladly welcomes any dragon that strayed too far away from their old home, or had none in the first place, and could not survive alone.
Deep in thought, Chroma returned to his masters for advice. They seemed almost glad to hear his story. Not everyone felt safe living close to a bloodthirsty dragon (though he wasn't really like that, but danger always looks bigger through the eyes of fear). No one wanted an exile; but they urged him to depart from their clan and reunite with his own kind. Here, a vow was made: to never attack your past Talonok comrades, and to never strike the Beastclan warriors first. He keeps it honourably to this day.
Half dragon, half beast.
I'd say he's chill now.
Best pals with Tripp and Trapp, obviously, cuz they had been hanging out together for a while in secret, then Chroma joined their clan officially.
Obedient Yet Unloyal

I've mentioned that there is no apparel item to represent Chroma's facial scars; his maw was torn from cheek to chin when he was still a disciple of the Plague, as punishment for speaking up to his Lanistas. Look at the head of this skin to see what I mean. --> |
