"Mom? Dad?" He chirped. His eyes were open, but where were his parents? Where was he? All he could see was black emptiness. Yes, he could see. But what was he looking at? There were little lights of all different sizes and colors floating about in the darkness. Some were so close he felt like he could touch them. When he reached out to grab one in his little tiny claws (which, he could not see, but could feel) he wasn't able to grab any.

"Baby? What's wrong, we're right here. Come over to us." The voice was soft, quiet and calm. Mom. Mother. But he couldn't find her. He felt panic welling up inside of him and hot tears ran down his invisible face. It was just blackness as far as he could see.

"Mom!" He chirped. "Dad! Mommy, where are you?" Two voices started talking very quietly, but he could hear them.

"His eyes, it's his eyes." Dad spoke, "it's the strange new magic. It's the curse."

"My poor baby," Mom cried, "this isn't fair!"

"He's blind..."

"But I can see!" He chirped up. He wobbled up on his legs and tried to move towards the sound of his parents. He stumbled and began to fall in the black space, but landed on a solid, warm object.

"I've got you," Dad said. "It's okay, everything will be okay."

He could see though, but not the world around him. He could see space far off in the distance. Sometimes he was close enough to touch the sun or the stars, but could never really feel them. He learned to walk through his world with sound and feeling. Due to the extra magic, or the curse as his father called it, his Arcane spells went unrivaled. However, because of his power, strange eyes and constant far off look he was an outcast from the rest of the dragon world. Many didn't trust him because of his so-called 'curse.'

It wasn't fair, not in the slightest, the way he was treated. All he ever tried to do was prove that he was the same as everyone else. He always tried to keep his head high and not let it affect him as he was growing up. No one is perfect though, he would sometimes break down about it to his parents. They would pull him close and tell him the story of the Starseekers.

They told him that his curse was a blessing. He could be the first ever Starseeker to find his star if he could explore the cosmos at whim. He loved the story and took it to heart. It was one of the few things that kept him going when he was feeling upset. Despite it all, he was determined to find his special star.
