Vervain is the clan's forager. She's quite good at her job, but her passion lies in games of chance. After she gathers enough food to feed everyone, she brings out her dice and cards and challenges every available dragon to a game. Vervain carved all the dice herself, and did her best to ensure most of them are fair.

Despite her care when making dice, she cheats at games. Instead of reprimanding her, however, the others follow suit. Card games at the Sanctuary often turn into contests to see who's the best at cheating. Vervain believes that the winner is still decided fairly if everyone is playing dishonestly.

Her friend Altair usually cleans up the table after a game is over, and sighs when the deck has double the amount of cards as it started with...

- one of the most powerful magic users among the Waveswept, though you would not know it by looking at her
- adorns herself in tattered, dusty fabric
- At first glance she does not look like much. A stone, perhaps, or a piece of rubble fallen from a much grander sculpture.
- collects relics
- shadows are a rough indicator of her emotion. they curl around her in a dark shroud whenever she is in a bad mood
- keeps strong opinions but rarely expresses them. has terrible handwriting
rename to Jian? change name to Acantha? Oxalis? Vervain? Rien?
- fierce and independent. keeps to herself. she's usually somewhere in the Sanctuary but is almost impossible to find.
- shadows seem to pull at her wherever she goes, twisting and dancing across her scales as if greeting an old friend.
- flickering shadows will indicate her proximity, but she moves quickly and disappears before most dragons notice

- violets, blooming along her scales. she cuts them away. (violet koi)
