Biography
Aljan=Zombie in Hausa
Actually though, he’s a real softy. He’s shy, feels most comfortable when there’s something above his head, like a tree branch or a roof.

I sat on the edge of the cliff, watching the sun fall beneath the horizon. A ball filled with energy and light... yet it just seemed to diminish quickly the farther it fell. I bit my lip. Insults echoed through my head. They followed the same pattern. You’re not a warden, you don’t belong. I swiped at my eyes, trying to keep them from watering. “You’re going to do it, aren’t you?” A voice asked from behind me. I didn’t care to turn around, I didn’t even care to find out who was talking to me, much less how they knew what I was doing. So I nodded slowly, not wanting to hear my own voice. “Your spirit is stronger than you believe. The ribbon of fate above your head is longer than you think.” The voice spoke again. I ignored her, taking another step closer to the edge of the cliff. “You can’t change my mind,” I whispered quietly as I stared down at the land below. A soft chuckle sounded behind me, “I know I cannot change your mind, so why don’t you go ahead.” I bit back tears, but hesitated no longer. I couldn’t hear the last words of the mysterious voice behind me over the wind, but the purple tundra had said them anyways, “But I can change your life.”
...
I woke up surrounded by warmth. Confusion was the first thing I felt, before the ache in my ribs. I coughed, squinting at my surroundings. A... cave? With a soft glow coming from one side, I turned my head to look. It revealed a warm fire, with a saucepan sitting on top. But the scenery was quickly replaced by a hand as someone grabbed me by the snout and shoved a liquid into my mouth. I coughed, but it had already fizzled down my throat. “Hey!” I shouted, whipping around to see who my attacker was despite the pain that sparked throughout my body. There, a tundra stood before me with fur that look like it was made of amethyst, yet there was a black mask covering her face. She wore the clothing of a warrior, but for some reason that Aljan couldn’t place, she didn’t seem like a warrior. “Hello there, Aljan.” I furrowed my brow, demanding, “H-How do you know my name?” My hands shook ever so slightly, partially from fear, partially from anxiety, partially from exhaustion. “Good question. You’re... smart, it’s a good quality to have,” The tundra replied, turning her attention back to the saucepan. I frowned at her, attempting to stand but the pain in my ribs was overwhelming. I quickly sat back in defeat, but I turned my head to get a better look at the stranger. Her voice seemed familiar, but… “Were you the one on the cliff…?” I asked, my voice almost so quiet I wasn’t sure if she’d be able to hear me. “Wh-Who are you?” The tundra turned, the thorns on her wings swishing as she did so. “I was there, yes. I was where fate needed me to be. My name is Umrtia, but who I am… that’s a very big, and broad, question. Maybe I’ll answer that another time.” “You asked for why you are still alive. Your strings of fate intertwined even after you died. I would not let you interfere in a fate as strong as that one.” |
