Biography
Orchid
The Gardener
The Gardener
From an early age, Orchid knew her place was tending to the plants and flowers. She disliked how her former home was mostly devoid of vegetation and even the environment discouraged any potential growth. Realizing any attempts to create a garden were futile, Orchid set off to the land protected by the Gladekeeper. She visited many Nature clans, learning how to cultivate in a much better setting. Still, Orchid was distraught over the fact that the Scarred Wasteland would never look as wonderful as the Viridian Labyrinth. Even if she were to return home, the plants she grew would hopelessly perish as soon as they were planted in the infected soil. It was then she hatched a plan: create a new breed of plant that could thrive off the contamination. Such a feat seemed impossible, but Orchid was determined to see it through. She moved to the Starfall Isles, believing the Arcane magic could help her in some way. Orchid began combining the energies of Plague, Nature and Arcane together in her experiments. Time passed until she eventually made surprising progress. Heading back to the Wasteland, she planted her experimental rose seeds while not paying attention to a few seeds that embedded themselves in her wings. It made quite the shock to discover tiny stems growing not only in the ground but along her wings too. Rather than pluck them, Orchid decided to leave them and further document this new discovery. The buds emerged from those stems and thereafter bloomed violet roses. Orchid gazed so fondly at her success, realizing her dream was coming true. The spot where she planted the roses eventually grew into a garden filled with the plants she personally cultivated to thrive in a Plague environment. Every so often she would come to tend to the garden's needs, otherwise she would be found in the Starwood Strand nestling among the barren trees until nightfall. This location would be the place she and Erebus would meet, under the starry blossoms of the trees. Somehow it became love at first sight between the two and they would later become mates. The violet roses continue to grow around Orchid's wings so she takes extra care of them. Having become a living garden herself, Orchid is proud of her work. Carefully picking out a small branch in her nest, Orchid looked forlornly at her single egg. The lair was still in dismay, but the clan members were actively rebuilding after the awful storm had nearly taken away their home. The nest originally held three eggs. Both Orchid and her mate, Erebus, tried protecting their nest until a strong wind blew both parents away. Soon after the ceiling collapsed and toppled over the unguarded nest. Finally when the storm dissipated, the parents searched the debris to find their nest destroyed. Somehow luck was on their side. One egg survived. As days passed, Orchid and Erebus worried the egg wouldn't hatch. Neither parent refused to leave the newly-made nest, having had their food brought in by their clanmates. The entire clan was also worried about the fate of the single egg. Erebus took a big yawn, obviously exhausted over their ordeal. His mate nuzzled closer to him. Nightfall came, and the parents continued their constant vigil. Nearly dozing off, Orchid heard a curious sound. Something was cracking? She turned to the nest to discover the egg moving. "Erebus, look!" Both parents watched anxiously as the egg formed tiny cracks. Small claws pushed the shell open, bright pink eyes staring at her new surroundings. The baby Imperial squeaked, calling for her parents. Slowly she slid out her egg and into the nest. Orchid lifted her daughter up, smiling happily. "You're finally here," she said. Looking closely, she noticed the baby Imperial had some curious markings along her body. "Erebus..." Erebus went to check their daughter. "She's..." Left speechless at the sight, Erebus could only stare bewildered at the fact their daughter had tiny stars dotted along her body. "The Arcanist has blessed us." "How does Stella sound?" Erebus could only smile at Orchid's name suggestion. |
