Biography
Ceres
The Voice of Nature
The Voice of Nature
Life had started out in a strange way. The earliest memory Ceres has is the tree she was born under. It was an old willow tree, one with low branches, with moss dripping onto the ground. From a distance, it looked like a mourning dragon, leaning over a nest that had seemed to be forgotten in the tall grass, abandoned by time and by those that built it. The aspect of time, the way Ceres sees it, did not grace her until she was older. Her parents had spent only a few minutes away from her nest while they left to go get the rest of the clan members for the birthing right of their nest. They didn’t realize that she had hatched shortly after they had left. Yet, those few minutes for Ceres was an eternity. She listened to the tree, to the grass, to the very earth around her. Her mother, a powerful mage, had seemed to have infused more magic into her egg than the others, leaving Ceres not only stronger physically, but stronger spiritually. Her powers were born before she had hatched, and she realized while staring up at the mourning willow that the soft singing she had heard from deep in her egg wasn't her mother, it was the tree. Her mother left her for the land of Light, a healer being needed within the clan. Ceres was not distraught. Her mother had helped her perfect the Nature magic that flowed in her veins, but had did little for Ceres otherwise. The two were never close. Ceres didn't mind this separation between her and her parents. They just couldn't understand what she did. They couldn't understand the pain the earth was in, the cries of the Earthshaker traveling through each and every crack as he wished for his family to return home. They couldn't hear the pain in the trees as the war between the Gladekeeper and the Plaguebringer continued. They didn't understand. They didn't understand her. But nature did. Ceres's calm personality was developed and formed through her interactions with the earth, through the love she gave to the flowers she grew, and to the care she gave to the animals around her. The land was alive with the magic of the gods and goddesses, and others were too blind to see it. That was why she left home, the only thing to remind her of where she came from being a small Empress Beetle who had once ruled over a colony of insects. Yet the beetle decided to join her on her journey to a new home, and Ceres began to search. With the help from the earth in Dragonhome, and from the wind in the Crescendo, and the ice in the South, and the water in the sea, Ceres found there were four options for her to choose from. The lightning was fierce and filled with the desire to do more than everyone else, to advance. To grow. The fire was harsh but warm to visitors, its personality only being described as "overjoyed". The dying trees and plants in the home of Plague did not speak of death, but of making their offspring stronger. Then the stars… oh, how the stars sung! Their voices carrying down to Ceres every night as she found a place to lay, her beetle nestled into her mane for protection and warmth. Deciding her fate while she was spending the night in Dragonhome, Ceres made her way for the land of the Arcanist at the first light, finding a clan to settle down in. So far, she is more than happy with her choice, her calm personality being a good fit for the clan. She enjoys helping the others bond with their familiars and to discover the secrets the earth shares.
