Biography

Amira
Princess of the Night
zrOqG3m.png
IZWTngH.png The first thing she saw were the stars. Sparkling above her. Shining down a calm, peaceful light. The stars were numerous, impossible to count. Yet she could tell each and every one of them apart. Every star had a personality. Every star had a life. No one had to tell her this. She knew from the very moment she escaped from her egg and laid eyes upon the beautiful starry sky. Her parents seemed overjoyed that their daughter loved the sky as much as they did. Amira was born in the Observatory of the Arcanist. Her parents were working there, studying the stars. After gaining permission from the Arcanist, they were allowed to have their own precious child. They taught everything to Amira. They taught her the ways of the cosmos. How to read the temperature of the stars, how to recognize constellations at a glance. How to perfect star maps... yet none of this was what she wanted. She wanted to be out there, during the night. Feeling the cold winds on her back, enjoying the night sky for all of its glory. That's why, when she was old enough to leave home, she did.

It wasn't an escape, or a betrayal. Amira left a note, an apology, and all her items behind. Taking only herself and her clothing to keep her warm. She knew her parents would wait for the day that she returned, but Amira didn't know if she ever would. Being free, outside the Observatory, exploring the night sky on her own was something special. It made her shiver in excitement. Finally, she could enjoy the night for all it had to offer her. The special silence of only the nighttime creatures chirping and calling. The sound of the wind and the ocean crashing along the pink rocks. And the sky, lit up in an spectacular light show for all to see. For her to see. The night was all Amira wanted to be. She wanted to be part of it, to give others that bright and beautiful sky to look at every night. Yet it was impossible. No amount of magic could let her become part of what she so dearly loved. Becoming one with the night was impossible, but that didn't mean she couldn't enjoy it every chance she got. When the sun came, she hid in a cave she had found by the sea. She slept the whole day away, waiting for the night to return. Once the sun began to set, she returned to the world outside and flew through the sky. It wasn't long before she was discovered.

A clan had noticed someone had taken up residence close to one of their borders. Day after day they watched for movement, but only when the night came did Amira do anything. She was no threat, if anything, the clan members that discovered her were in awe. Someone that loved the night as much as she did was something odd. The clan began to refer to her as the princess of the night, a patron of the stars. Not long after this nickname spread around the clan, Amira discovered she was being watched. Select clan members made their way to introduce themselves to her, and ask for a favor. A night watch-man. Someone that would recognize any disturbances in the night. It came with full protection, food, water, and a clan to keep her company when she needed it. Amira took the job, but only because nothing would change other than her reporting any strange occurrences to the clan leader. This life was perfect for her. The night sky remained with her, and she refused to let it go.
