Apophis
He Who Hides Among the Shadows

4jOIJr9.png How long has it been since he yearned to blot out the light? Days, weeks, or years? Of course one wouldn't expect to get straight answers from Apophis. He doesn't recall much aside from how he became this way. Experimentation was a hobby of his which led to his doomed fate. Messing with the Shadowbinder's ooze and excess Arcane magic could do strange things to the curious dragon. Apophis's body was never the same, dripping black sludge wherever he dared move. Multiple eyes also appeared along his long body.

Apophis took to lurking through the shadows, hiding his form from the unwary. Time passed, and his once brilliant mind had turned to madness the longer he remained. He would often attack defenseless dragon clans, first plunging the unsuspecting lair in total darkness and then taking whatever was inside, leaving nothing behind. He felt no remorse for his actions, only great pleasure. One brave clan led by a female Nocturne managed to seal away Apophis inside a statue made of obsidian. Despite his entombment, Apophis swore he'd return. Legends would later tell of the Nocturne becoming revered as a goddess, only she would be powerful enough to stop Apophis.

The fateful day finally arrived when Hathor unknowingly released Apophis from his prison. He madly cackled, taunting Hathor before slipping away in the shadows. Fully aware he was being pursued, Apophis gladly took up the challenge. The only signs he left were his trailing ooze and the destruction he lay waste. The real trouble came when he revealed these particular puddles he dripped, should someone touch it, they would be transported to a different part of Sornieth. These came in handy for several close calls whenever Hathor caught up with him.
Having grown bored of his little cat-and-mouse chase, Apophis rested somewhere in the Starfall Isles. Much to his amusement, Hathor and her two priestesses had also taken refuge in the region. He tailed them, discovering the three dragons were staying in the lair of the Dreaming Moon Clan. That's when an insidious idea came to his mind. A few days later Apophis announced his presence, startling almost everyone in the clan. Hathor was prepared to face him when the clan matriarch told her to stand down. After all, this was no way to treat a guest, right?

The clan matriarch allowed Apophis to stay, provided he behaved himself. Obviously Hathor was not fooled by Apophis's display, taking every precaution to ensure the clan's safety. For now Apophis is just content, often amusing himself by hiding within a dragon's shadow. His multiple eyes are usually the first thing his clanmates see when they realize he's watching them. Proficient in sword-fighting, Apophis will not back down a challenge. In fact he welcomes it.
