Lilo -- Inventory Keeper

Lilo hummed absentmindedly as she swept different items in her clan’s hoard into different piles, each stroke of her claw was purposeful and precise, her eyes scanned the items before her in a stiff almost computer-like fashion. Everything was neat and perfect. She shifted her weight, mentally cataloging where everything would go and how she would put them away, a smile crossed her usually complacent face. Her tail swished across the stone floor of the clan’s hoard slowly, taking care to avoid the various items that Lilo had just taken out, cleaned, re-cataloged, and organized. A loud noise caused her head to snap up and her eyes to narrow.

With a flourish, a bright red dragon swept into the Hoard, his tail swept across the floor, disrupting several of the piles and undoing most of Lilo’s hard work. Lilo frowned.

“Oh, good! Lilo! Just the dragon I was looking for, could you get something out of the Vault for me?” He smiled innocently with no knowledge of what he had just ruined. A few cats trailed in after him, one of them waggled it’s hindquarters and leapt up gracefully onto his shoulders, avoiding the candles that drifted around him. Lilo sneezed and frowned deeper, if that was even possible.

“Yes of course Maxie, what would you like withdrawn?” Lilo’s voice was stale and bored, the pleasure that organizing brought her was gone with the arrival of her strange but powerful leader.

“I need one hundred thousand treasure taken out for me! Um...we do have that much right?” Maxie’s voice trailed down to a whisper as he glanced around nervously, the exuberant smile melting from his eyes for a mere moment.

“Of course we do, you literally put in one hundred and fifty thousand yesterday. Dear gods, how did I end up in this miserable clan.” Lilo stood slowly and lumbered to the far chamber of the Vault slowly, gently sweeping up the mess that Maxie’s dramatic arrival had made.

“HEY! I’m the one who gave you a place to live! I’m the one who tolerates you! There’s no need for you to sass me! I’m the sassmaster here!” Maxie took great offense at Lilo’s discomfort, he was getting ready to say more when he noticed the mess he had made and felt the second comeback he had in mind die in his throat. He swallowed guiltily as he remembered that one of the agreements that Lilo and he had happened to be ‘no messing up my work, and no cats in the Hoard because Lilo is allergic’...both of which he had just violated.

Lilo walked patiently back to see a drastically sobered Maxie, she was surprised to see glints of guilt in his deep green eyes, and sighed in appreciation as she noticed the absence of the cats who had previously followed him into her personal space.

“Here’s the treasure, and I picked up a health potion on my way back here. I don’t know if you realized, but you’ve got a pretty good tear on your wing there.” Lilo handed a jingling satchel and a almond-shaped bottle filled with red fluid to Maxie, who looked surprised, and glanced back at his wing. To his surprise, Lilo was right, there was a large slash running along the inside of his left wing, he winced at the memory of himself desperately struggling through a particularly stubborn patch of thorns not even hours ago.

“Um, thanks…” Maxie awkwardly accepted the items and began to back carefully out of the stone opening that he had so disruptively barged through.

“No problem...sassmaster.” Lilo allowed herself a rare smirk and turned her tail on Maxie to once more organize her domain.
