The Way The Dice Rolls
written by Talini Flora (Or "Fleur" as she likes being called, apparently it has a big city feel to it - whatever that means.) is a charismatic, yet vain and self-centred dragon who I doubt has even a single good bone in her body. I could be mistaken, I have to be honest in the fact that I've never particularly sought to speak to her, but from the very few interactions she's instigated with me I've not once sensed and good in her. Despite how much I dislike her, her sociable nature means she still manages to be one of the most popular people in the clan. She also has a bad habit of flirting with her wagering opponents before crushing their hopes in her claws, which has earned her the nickname The Queen of Hearts. It doesn't help my opinion of her that she's is part of a very small, select group of people in the clan who actually enjoys being here, revelling in the sick, twisted nature of the circus' true purpose. Her job is as a gambler. You may be wondering why a circus would have a hired gambler, but there's a very simple and actually quite clever reason for her to be here - money. There's a small, yet flashy gambling tent, usually set up at the very back that lures in any dragon feeling lucky. In there they meet with Fleur, who uses her natural charisma and plenty of sweet talk to draw her victims in before letting them choose what kind of high-stakes gamble they want to go for. This technique lulls them into a false sense of security, and they never seem to have a clue what will happen next. No matter what they go for, they have virtually no chance of winning because Fleur has some over complicated method of cheating her way to victory. Cue a considerable flow of money coming in from rich gambling addicts. That doesn't sound too bad, people cheat when gambling every day of every week, but there's one other kind of bet she offers for only the most courageous chancers coming that really makes my blood boil. Fleur likes to gamble with other dragons' lives, knowing full well that they're going to lose. She usually offers this cruel option for those who've already lost everything, lauding it as a lifeline for them - a way to get everything they lost back, not to mention all her other winnings. Of course, she also offers it to others as well. It would be a way to get rich quick if they won. (Which of course, is impossible.) The way she markets this option with so much praise feels so... manipulative. She makes it seem like there's no other option. This gamble is usually done in the form of a rigged Russian roulette, though she does have other methods. It's sickening how she watches on with glee as desperate betters die for her own entertainment, even bragging about her latest kills and what she was able to steal off their cold, dead bodies. This isn't even part of her job, she came up with this twisted idea all on her own. "Survival of the fittest" she calls it, saying about how if someone's foolish enough to go through with a bet then they deserve to die. Maybe I just have a weak disposition, but I just can't stand it.
