A battle happened when he was young and he got separated from his parents.

While trying to find his way home, he came across a group of dragons in the process of torturing another dragon. Unable to handle her cries for help, he ran off. Guilt slowly consumed him, and he went back and reached their torture came by nightfall.

The evil ones were asleep, making it easier for the young to sneak in and rescue their victim. The pearl catcher's wings were torn to shreds, infection set in and boils were forming along her body. He made a makeshift stretcher, worked slowly and quietly to get her on it, promising that if she stayed quiet, he'd get her out of there. Strapping her onto the stretcher, then strapping the handles onto his own body, they slowly made their way to safety.

During their journey, the two became good friends, Akihiko also learned many different ways to heal wounds and illnesses. Thanks to the help of strangers they met along their way, they found themselves in Shadow territory. Yume finally found familiar land and they eventually came across the Demons Den. Oniko was estatic to see her child again. She had long since given up on finding her. After hearing what happened, the Clan warmly welcomed Akihiko to stay.

Akihiko studied more ways of healing, curing Yume's blight is his main goal, but healing others is his passion in life.
