Home's gentle and soft-hearted legal expert, Reyson is a lawyer and legal professor. He helps ensure that Home always stays within legal guidelines and is the one who argues custody cases if any legal issues arise. His boyfriend, Eldrinn, is a fellow professor, and the two have a son, Shen.
- Biography
Born to a family of druids, Reyson's original home in a small Wind-Flight forest was burned to the ground intentionally by a small group of out-of-Flight arsonists. All Reyson remembers of his birth family are the things they taught him: be gentle, kind, serene, harm no living things, patient in all matters, flow like a summer breeze. Reyson spent a great deal of time as a young dragon studying inter-Flight laws and legal processes in what he soon realized was a fruitless attempt to find some sort of justice for the destruction of his home; nevertheless, he rationalized that he was clearly talented, and he might as well put his talents to some sort of use. A genius in his field, he was hired at Home almost the minute Lothur set eyes on him.
- Life at Home
Reyson is responsible for legal matters and disputes as well as for teaching law and politics courses. He prefers to keep his classes small, and only takes the best into his upper-level classes. He is known as a hard but fair professor, and Home's residents consider it a badge of honour to be accepted into his advanced courses. An extremely gifted lawyer, Lothur is fond of telling stories about how he's seen him go argue custody cases when he was so sick he could barely walk and still win as if he wasn't even trying. Reyson knows his stuff, and he knows he knows it, and this makes him notoriously stubborn. He's been known to butt heads with the other faculty members if he thinks they're not following his advice as closely as they should be.
- Relationships
Reyson is extremely slow to trust, and even after coming to Home, he maintained a strictly professional relationship with everyone for quite a while until the other faculty members eventually earned his trust. Even though he now feels at home and part of the family, he remains rather jumpy and is more talkative with dragons he's known for longer, meaning he's often slow to get to know new arrivals. He often relies on his boyfriend Eldrinn to take care of introductions for him, and since they've been together, he's become more outgoing as he's realized he can use Eldrinn for moral support in social situations. The two have an adult son, Shen, who now lives away from Home but still sends his dad pressed flowers from his travels. Reyson is a difficult dragon to grow close to, but Home's residents know he's always more than happy to help if they run into problems.
- Personality
Reserved, stern, and with a ready smile but a rare laugh, Reyson is soft-spoken and quiet. Tall and graceful but extremely frail, he has been sickly and physically weak for his whole life. Outside his immediate family, he probably knows Home's doctors best due to the amount of time he spends in their offices. Though he retains many of the original virtues his original family attempted to teach him - such as deep appreciation for life and a preference to be gentle and kind when possible - his life has made him much more abrasive. He can be very hot-headed, stubborn, and argumentative, and despite his original family's teachings, one of his first instincts when confronted with potentially dangerous situations is violence. This is a very poor first instinct in his case due to his frail body - he once punched a dragon attempting to mug him in the nose and cracked the bones in his hand - and also because he's extremely empathetic. Negative energies absolutely drain him, and being in a serious fight would probably make him sick. It's also surprising given his gentle and kind nature, but it can't really be helped that his instinct is fight over flight nine times out of ten.
