(Mythical Fruit Preserves)

Able to create unimaginably delicious preserves

Sterling Gloom was born to a tight-knit light clan of driven, hardworking dragons. As she grew up, being pushed to discover her passion, she felt less and less like she belonged. Sterling started going on night flights to clear her head and think. After weeks of these flights, she came to the sad realisation that she just didn't belong and from that, she formed a plan. A long goodbye to her childhood home, Sterling set off to explore the world with equal parts excitement and sadness. This mix of emotions fuelled her so much that she pushed on through the night.

This is where everything would change for Sterling against her will. While flying through the night sky, over a small village, Sterling was hit full force by something otherworldly.

A star-wish. Star-wishes are a powerful form of magic created by the strongest wish a soul can muster. These wishes usually occur when a dragon is in dire need. The wish is collected by the chosen star and then set out to another dragon who could help. In some cases, a star-wish is made by a dying dragon; these wishes have the power to change lives forever.

One of these powerful star-wishes is what knocked Sterling from the sky. The wish was made by an elderly guardian dragon, who was the heart of the township below—a preserve maker, supplying every home and business in the tight-knit village. The oldest resident had become their friend and confidant, a parental figure to all. Although all the villagers spent time with them, none felt the pull to pick up the mantel when the elder fell ill. The guardian's final wish was for someone to carry on their legacy, a wish made with a dying breath.

What should have happened was the wish should have been taken in by the star and sent out to a young, curious hatchling. Who would follow in the elder's footsteps correctly, becoming the new heart of the village? Instead, it hit Sterling on it's way to the star above and knocked her out of the sky. She fell unconscious through the open roof of a garden shed when Sterling awoke, it was pitch black, and her head hurt. Finally, her eyes adjusted to the dark, and she saw that the hut was set up to preserves fruits and vegetables into jams and chutneys. The walls were covered in shelf after shelf of jars, some empty, others filled with colourful substances.

Sterling's eyes alighted on a dark purple seedling familiar lying on a worktable among shards of pottery. It must have been trying to reach the plant food bag on a higher shelf and fallen, smashing the pot it lived in. Now lying under the open roof, the weak seedling got hit with lots of rain, overwatering it. Sterling grabbed the nearest empty jar, this one was covered in mysterious stardust and scooped up the sodden familiar. Sterling spent the rest of the night searching for the familiar's owner with the poor thing held to her chest.

After finding nothing but an empty house, she decided to find a place to rest and from there, figure out what to do next. On tired and aching wings, Sterling ended up in a smaller clan, landing on the outskirts of the township. That clan was this one, and with the help of the kind villagers, Sterling actually settled in nicely, permanently.

A while later and Sterling had helped start what would turn in a monthly market festival that runs alongside the flight themed holidays. Sterling combines her preserves with special made potions from Ebony Midnight, creating the top-selling item, preserves with a magic twist.
