Setting up the portal system had some interesting side-effects, and now random portals tend to open near the lair. Sharain was one of the first in the group of younger dragons who took it as their task to stabilise the portals and explore the realms behind the rips in space/time. Most of the time they lead somewhere on Sornieth, but occasionally they lead to somewhere else...

Due to his tenacious interest and enthusiasm, this adventurous young dragon rose to lead the expeditions and now holds the title of Master Explorer. While he is not the leading expert in portal-magic, he is one of the best in the Clan when it comes to the quick-and-dirty fieldwork.

Sharain can be dictatorial and often collides with the older clanmates. He holds a great position with the younger dragons of the clan, with them looking up at him and letting him lead even in situations that don’t exactly fall under his command. There is a possibility of a rift in the clan authority, since Sharain is the type to lord over even his elders: proud, vain and young enough to think he knows best. He does have a minor position in the Council but doesn’t have actual authority in matters other than his own field.

After the stormy start with Nilena, the two now live together and trust each other with information they usually don’t share with other dragons. This can be a problem since Nilena leads the spy-web and is knows things that she should not.
