Algol. He was born into blindness yet what is eyes could not do means little. More than just elevating his other senses to compensate, his eyes could "see" beyond the material plane upon which mortals live and die and into the realms of "others." His dreams are his eyes that give him visions, some perhaps prophetic, others of a nature that can only be imagined of, meanings from which only the epiphany occult meditation could reveal. Unable to see, light and darkness means nothing to him, and so he has taken to live deep within a cave illuminated only by the ritualistic candles, the embers of burning incenses, and the fire that keeps him warm. Though from the outside, there appears to be nothing of the sort. The locals avoid him for his eeriness with rumors abound of what he does, only further compounded upon by the fact he lives almost entirely as a hermit. If it was not for the company of Livi, his partner and childhood friend, who has grown most accustomed to his ways, he would live in total isolation without another thought. She tends to their day-to-day affairs, such as food and other supplies. It is under her care that he has managed as well as he has, albeit their relationship is a strange one, but it is also something she has grown accustomed to and appreciates. Despite what others think of him, he is not necessarily seen in a hateful manner, and there are visitors who come by to employ his services as a fortune teller. It is through this means that they make most of their monetary income. As he has no physical sight, he instead wears a mask of his own creation. It's purpose is two-fold; the glass diamond in the center serves as a focal point through which he channels what energies he manipulates during his practices and the mask itself is made of a material designed to sooth through his other senses as a meditative aid. |
