Biography

~From the desk of Chickweed Caraway~

Cowrie / Clan Benth
═══════════════════════════
My Location:
The north side of the Sea of a Thousand Currents, but I’m not close enough to any distinctive landmarks to give a perfect location.
Olympia Oyster

Crimes:
None, though I admit, I didn’t get to know her well enough to say.

Tidelord Seashell Decoration

Questions:
She’s at the age a typical Guardian would be off searching for a Charge, but she doesn’t seem to be engaging in that sort of behavior. Has she already found a Charge, and if so, what is it?

How does she know Chiron and how is she related to Newt?

NOTES ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

I admit, I was unenthusiastic when Chiron informed me that I’d be relocated to Water territory, but after Phrygia kicked me out of his lair, I wasn’t in much of a position to negotiate.

However, when Chiron introduced me his friend Cowrie, I knew I didn’t need to worry. She set me up in a dugout near the shore of the Sea of a Thousand Currents, and while it’s too small to be called a proper lair, it’s all my own. She checks on me every so often and brings me more fish that I can eat.

I suspect that she only leaves me alone because she doesn’t think I can do much damage in an area where most of the population lives under water. She would be right. There isn’t a soul to talk on land, and she knows I can’t swim. Well played, Cowrie, well played.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Update: I’m not completely alone. Although the waters in this part of the Sea are notoriously difficult to sail, there’s a string of boats that occasionally pass by the shore. I’ve taken to watching the crew through my spyglass and they’ve proven to be a source of much needed entertainment. The boats are captained by a Bogsneak that appears to enjoy ordering the crew around. I told Cowrie about them and she didn’t seem to think they were a threat, so I’m not concerned.

Other than that, it’s been all solitude for me. With freedom to move as I please, it’s not so bad as I thought. The scenery is quite nice, and I’ve taken to walking along the shoreline at dawn. Dragons from other flights rarely visit the Sea, and I think I’ve finally found a place that will be safe from Corriveau.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Update: Cowrie told me to stop cooking my fish or I’d get sick. Apparently, this is a common a Water Flight superstition.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Update: They found me. I don’t know how he did it, but one of Corriveau’s minions tracked me down. I was on my morning walk along the shoreline, when I caught sight some something reflective in the corner of my eye. An arrow just missed my wing and I caught sight of a large Mirror in the shadow of the shoreline forest. Fortunately, one of the boats I had been watching was sailing near the shore and the crew heard my shrieks of alarm. One crew member, a Ridgeback, decided to investigate and he ended up being my savior. I was worried that he would sell me out, but I explained that I was being hunted and he allowed me to fly back to his boat.

The captain was not pleased. He ordered off of his ship the moment I landed on the deck, but the Ridgeback insisted that I was allowed to stay until more help arrived.

I was pleased that I finally got to learn the names and habits of the dragons I’d been watching through my spyglass for so long, but that didn’t last long. My fear of immanent death was quickly replaced with seasickness. I’ve never been been more nauseous in my life.

When Cowrie managed to hunt me down, she thought I had tried to run away, but the Captain assured her that I wasn’t welcome on his ship. I was more than happy to leave. At that point, I would have rather faced the assassin than spend another moment on the boat. When I told Cowrie that I seasick, she scoffed and told me that that’s what I got for cooking my fish.

She’s been guarding my dugout ever since, and though she is pretending to sleep, her muscles are tensed.

I hope its enough to keep the assassin at bay.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Update: Chiron arrived this morning to check up on me and Cowrie informed him I could no longer stay. That Corriveau’s minions knew where I was, and she couldn’t keep me safe for much longer.

Chiron begged her for a few days to find me a new home, and she relented, but just barely.

I wonder if Cowrie will let me walk along the shore one last time.
