Shortly before knowing of Tuchariin's existence, Iica suffered a severe attack from a Shade-crazed dragon that ambushed him while he was traveling alone through the Icefields. He hadn't realized how severely he was infected with the darkness until a few days had passed — when his wounds, even after his attempts to purify, were oozing and refusing to heal properly. His wounds eventually became ugly scars, and his magic abilities — previously second nature — permanently turned against him. He now suffers constant, crippling pain, numbness, and chills; sometimes too much heat can exacerbate symptoms. With the aid and support of the then-small clan, he tried many potential remedies, yet nothing worked. He increasingly became frustrated as he was only met with failure after failure, and thus cried himself to sleep most nights. Desperate for any solution, he first jumped at the opportunity to learn about the Order of Beledhgotha from Rose, a zealous follower that had just been passing through. He met Radius one quiet night not long after, who was also a follower of Beledhgotha. For reasons Iica couldn't fathom at the time, Radius took him on a student. Their relationship finally developed into romance, after much silent pining from Iica, when Radius made the first move. Disenchanted with not finding answers or solutions, Iica eventually met a member of Njoren that happened to be passing through during a storm, Teyhe, and when it subsided he gladly packed up and set off from the safety of the glacier with them, and was led to another clan that was further tucked away in Ice.  |
