Once up on a time, our Battle Commander, the illustrious Pendragon, was walking by when he stopped to watch one of the herdsdragons taking care of some unusual animals.
“What are those delightful furry creatures?” he called to the shy young dragon.
“They, they, they are called bunnies …er…..rabbits,” your Worship replied Nyx the young herdsdragon.
“What do you do with them?” asked Pendragon
“”Well-l-l-l-l-l, you can bath them, and brush them, and dress them in cute little outfits…” began Nyx when she was interrupted by Bones, the apprentice alchemist and would-be cook who yelled as she ran by towards the Lab, “they make great stew!”
“What is stew?” asked Pendragon.
“It’s a type of liquidy food made with meat and vegetables and herbs and spices that you mix together, heat up in water and serve hot!” she shouted as she ran past him. Bones was always running, because she was always late.
Poor Nyx just sputtered.
“They make fine fur and bone accents on clothing,” commented Amazonite, the seamstress as she strolled by in the opposite direction from Bones, wearing her ridiculous swaths of fabric and feathers on tippy striped high heels.
Now Nyx looked like she was going to cry.
“Don’t mind them,” said Pendragon kindly to Nyx. Nyx sniffled uncertainly as she cuddled her rabbits close to her chest as if to protect them from the mean apprentice and seamstress.
Bunnies are so cute and fluffy, thought Pendragon as he watched Nyx cuddling with her herd of rabbits. They looked so sweet as they climbed all over her and burrowed into her wings. He could imagine himself sitting on his favorite mound of jewels, drinking some mead, well maybe not mead but something pleasantly soothing, reading the day’s dispatches and cuddling with his little furry bunny friend. That image stayed with him all day as he went about his daily tasks.
I want one! he decided, so he sent the newest scout, Desdemona, out to find a cute little bunny for him. He figured this should not be too difficult since she came back with one when she had made her ill-fated trip to the great Auction House. She should be able to find a suitable candidate when she went out on her next scouting mission.
After a few days, and Pendragon asking Desdemona more and more impatiently where his new pet was, Desdemona returned with a Bucktooth Digger (which she did not tell him but she had to acquire it from the great AH. It took a lot of haggling and trading and much coin to do so -- she did notice that the merchant seemed suspiciously happy when she took the creature away, but she ignored the alarm bells of her subconscious mind).
Pendragon was overjoyed with his new pet. He named him Blackberry after the character in one of the books he had read. He promptly scooped up Blackberry and brought him home to the comfortable den he had created for him after consulting with Nyx. At first he thought life with his new pet would be just as he had imagined it that day when he saw Nyx with her herd. However, life with a rabbit was VERY different from what Pendragon had imagined and he could never have imagined just how different it was going to be.
First the little fur ball seemed to be constantly shedding hair. The hair came out so fast that Blackberry was actually bald in spots -- completely killing the dream of softly burying his claws in its fur and petting it soothingly. The mangy thing seemed to have dandruff as well as fleas! To add insult to injuty, the darned fleas did not want to stay only on their rabbit host either -- they got into everything and hungrily munched on Pendragon himself! Nothing Pendragon did seemed to get rid of them either. Just when his house would be flea-free, another infestation would uncannily occur.
Pendragon had not noticed it when the rabbits were outside, but he did notice when his rabbit was inside -- the darn thing stunk! No amount of wiping, bathing, brushing or perfume would cover the stink.
Another issue was that the blessed thing was up all night digging and chewing everything in its path. When it was up -- so was Pendragon -- whether he wanted to be or not. After consulting Nyx, he bought Blackberry toys to help keep it from ruining his furniture, but Blackberry was not interested in toys only in Pendragon’s expensive art pieces and furniture.
Moreover, the darn thing seemed to be a pee and poop machine and liked to pee and poop everywhere as if it was marking its territory, everywhere that is except its litter box. The litter box evidently was only for digging. For as quickly as the litter box was filled, its contents were strewn out around the box. This foul smelling thing started to make Pendragon’s home foul-smelling too.
To top it off, the nasty thing did not like to be picked up and would struggle as soon as Pendragon laid a claw on it. Blackberry struggled so much so that Pendragon was afraid Blackbery would injure itself trying to get away from him. Furthermore, Blackberry started to get very aggressive with Pendragon. It would mount Pendragon’s feet, constantly circle around behind Pendragon to lunge at him from behind. Occasionally the psycho bunny even tried to bite Pendragon -- seemingly change its mind at the last minute and instead snap its jaws shut just inches from Pendragon’s various body parts -- all the while giving Pendragon the evil eye. After consulting with Nyx, Pendragon tried thumping the floor and turning his back on it which evidently is rabbit-eez for stop being such a jerk. This only encouraged Blackberry to continuously splay itself on Pendragon’s tail as if to say I’m bigger and meaner than you. Pendragon began to wonder if the little bully was right.
However, the last straw came when Pendragon was feeding the cruel thing treats and Blackberry slowly looked up at him with its deceptively innocent gaze, paused for a moment to look at then ignore the carrot, and then deliberately and swiftly chomped down savagely on Pendragon’s clawpad. Blackberry them proceeded to grind its teeth together trying to sever Pendragon’s very clawtip. This injury unbelievably hurt and bled everywhere. Pendragon responded with a shrieking “No” (though he will tell you it was merely a firm “No”) as he tried to pry Blackberry’s jaws off his clawpad. Blackberry let go then immediately chomped on the clawpad of Pendragon’s other hand causing more bloodshed and mayhem as Pendragon’s high pitched shrieks could be heard throughout the Compound.
Dragons came swiftly swooping in to see the cause of the commotion -- feeling sure it must be a surprise attack by one of the Beastmasters. Instead they found the savage beast stubbornly clamped on to Pendragon’s clawpad as Pendragon shrieked and danced around the room swinging his hands frantically trying to dislodged the creature.
The other dragons laughingly helped Pendragon get the evil bunny off of his hands, herd Blackberry away and corralled it into the back closet where they securely locked it in.
Pendragon considered sending for Bones or Amazonite to deal with the bunny as it deserved but he was sure that 1) any stew made from it would poison everyone who ate it (whether that was the bunny’s doing or Bones’ cooking) or 2) Somehow the bunny would choke anyone who wore its fur or bones around their neck or wings. So Pendragon instead sent Desdemona and grumpily ordered her to quickly remove the evil creature and dispose of it fittingly. Desdemona wearing her Gloves of Invisibility managed to snag the rabbit without it tearing too many pieces our of her hide. Not sure what else to do (as she had tried to release the bunny back into the wild but it came coming back to Pendragon’s den, Desdemona quickly took it to Nyx.
Nyx must truly be the mythical bunny whisperer because Blackberry settled right down in the herd (as leader of course) and became a mostly well-mannered and sedate creature -- except when he saw Pendragon or Desdemona.
And that my hatchlings is why we should be careful what we wish for. I tell you this story so that you may learn from Pendragon’s mistakes and do your research before you get a new pet or start a “pet project.”

A short time later the following scroll mysteriously appeared with Pendragon’s daily dispatches. It was an excerpt from a sacred text about a creature much like Blackberry. This is what it read:
Pendragon first thought was, “The Holy Handgrenade of Antioch is clearly a Fire: Sear Ability Stone metaphor." His second thought was, "Well there is precedence for what I experienced as is clearly shown in the Sacred texts! His last thought was, "Wait, isn't "Wikipedia" that learned scholar of Dirt that occasionally makes up his research to sound more intelligent?"
As Pendragon uneasily pondered these things he noticed scrawled across the bottom in handwriting that suspiciously looked like one he recognized,

King Arthur and his knights are led to the cave by Tim the Enchanter and find that they must face its guardian beast. Tim verbally paints a picture of a terrible monster with "nasty, big, pointy teeth!", so terrifying that Sir Robin soils his armour at the mere description. When the guardian appears to be an innocuous white rabbit, surrounded by the bones of the fallen, Arthur and his knights no longer take it seriously. Ignoring Tim's warnings ("a vicious streak a mile wide!"), King Arthur orders Bors to chop the rabbit's head off. Bors confidently approaches it, sword drawn, and is immediately decapitated by the rabbit biting clean through his neck, to the sound of a can opener. Despite their initial shock, Sir Robin soiling his armor again, and Tim's loud scoffing, the knights attack in force, but the rabbit injures several of the knights and kills Gawain and Ector with ease. The knights themselves have no hope of killing or injuring the rabbit. Arthur panics and shouts for the knights to retreat ("Run away!"). Knowing they cannot risk attacking again, they try to find another way to defeat the beast.
