Biography

The warmth and stability of the Earth Flight’s lands seemed to have been born forth within the coatl upon his own hatch day. From birth, Autumn had been a soft spoken, gentle dragon that dreamt of nothing but seeing the world. He wanted to experience the different regions of Tamriel, wanted to read and take in the knowledge that was held within libraries and collections throughout the world. As he grew, so did his need to learn. One day, as a traveling monk stopped within their village for a short rest, Autumn came to sit by their side and listen to the stories they told of the world around them. The young coatl was in awe of the monk, idolizing not only the knowledge they had gained but the time and effort that went into practicing their training. He would participate in their morning rituals and meditations, enchanted with how caming and refreshed it made him feel.

When he was old enough, Autumn made the decision to leave his birth clan and follow in the footsteps of his mentor all those years ago. He’d fallen in love with the vagabond lifestyle of being a monk, having decided young that he would also become one as well. His travels took him to a monastery where he was able to become indoctrinated officially. Quite possibly the first and only time in which Autumn has ever worked as hard as he did, it was well worth every ounce of his time despite the nagging itch that still compelled him to move on. One does not necessarily ‘graduate’ into a monk position, but Autumn learned all he could from the teachers at the monastery and began his own travels shortly thereafter with the same intent of his mentor to spread what he learned.

And so he traveled. There were many days where Autumn found himself far away from another clan or any settlement. For a good portion of dragons, this may seem a bit of a predicament. For Autumn, it meant time to meditate, to commune with nature and to reflect. When he did find himself allowed to spend time within a clan, he used it to his advantage. He would settle in for however long he could, leaving for days on end and coming back as his whims took him. Mostly though, he would retell his stories and listen patiently to the young hatchlings of the clan tell their own or remark on his. If there were libraries or other archives for him to gain information and new knowledge from he would spend many hours within it. Autumn had always been a patient dragon, so should he be unable to gain entry to those archives he would wait. And wait. And wait, until finally he was allowed to read them or decided to move on to the next clan.

Autumn eventually wandered into a clan within the Wind Flight just as he would any other time he came into a settlement. He was never truly shunned or ignored when he did, though in some instances the coatl did find himself in a situation where he could tell his presence wasn’t always enjoyed. This clan however had a leader that, after several weeks, allowed Autumn to stay permanently if he so chose to. At first the coatl wasn’t quite sure if he would. The world was still vast and full of places for him to explore, stories to read and retell. But the clan was welcoming, and enthusiastic of him joining even if most of his ‘jobs’ within the clan were more keeping the young dragons entertained with stories, teaching meditation and helping categorize the library when he had time. Nonetheless, Autumn decided that for now, the clan would be his home.
The itch to leave and experience things still nestled itself deep within Autumn, but he was surprisingly content with the clan he now called home. He devised a plan to help satisfy his need but also still remain a member with the elder, allowing him to come and go for days on end as he had in the past in other clans, so long as he brought back something useful on his trips. Autumn readily agreed, and set forth on his first several day trek. On the first one, he brought back special fruits that were grown in the nature flight, along with seeds so they could grow the fruit themselves. It brought a bit of commerce, as other wind clans would barter for the hard to retrieve fruit due to the distance required to travel for them. Autumn had spent four days with the growers of the fruit, learning the important ways of cultivating them and in exchange he taught his monastic practices to their own monks.

On one particular trip, he came across another coatl that had found herself collapsed from exhaustion. She was on the verge of death, and if Autumn had not stumbled across her then she would have surely perished. He was patient with her, waiting for the female coatl to find her own strength and softly answering any questions she threw at him. He learned her name was Chai, and that she had left her home after a calamity had struck and left most of her clan dead or near to it. They grew closer as he nursed her back to health, waiting until she was ready to travel. Autumn decided to take her home to his new clan, which she also agreed to. They traveled back, and the clan elder allowed her to stay. Chai seemed to have a new lot in life thanks to Autumn’s patience and diligence with her, and the two still remained close. He showed her the clan and told her of his own stories and travels, warming her heart and causing them to grow fond of each other. Soon, Autumn found he was in love with Chai, and she him. The coatl found another passion in his life within Chai, and the two sons that they were blessed with.
