______ She could not recall the time when she was not living in the Hallowed Hall. Many dragons had come and gone, all younger than her, having become Ascendant and graced with Noctis Timore's great ritual. It plagued her mind whenever she went to sleep, the fact that she was not chosen as Ascendant and sent to fight for the Arcanist.

She wondered why. Why couldn't she be chosen by Noctis Timore and sent to aid the Arcanist? Why did he refuse to exalt her?

One day her answer came from a source that she did not expect, Mollis Somnus. The laziest of the Angels of Rebirth, but also the most terrifying.

The sleepy Skydancer grumbled, "You're too gentle, even though you're also loud."

"W-what," stammered Sakura. Her body froze in place, afraid that the Skydancer would do worse than grumble at her.

A great sigh rippled through Mollis Somnus as he rolled onto his back and regarded her with handsome violet eyes that still possessed a sleepy film. "The Master doesn't see you being able to survive the Exalting ritual. You're too gentle, just like the delicate flowers you were named after. Besides..."

A yawn forced his jaws open. When he settled again his eyelids fluttered. "He had promised you to another clan. But they have not contacted him since the initial meeting. It makes him angry. You can not stay here indefinitely..."

"T-then why doesn't he make me one of you," Sakura asked, "I know the Hallowed Hall so well! I would make an excellent Angel of Rebirth!"

A low chuckle rumbled from the depths of Mollis Somnus's chest. "That's funny..."

Sakura could not move fast enough, in the blink of an eye she found herself on her back and pinned. Her terror had her frozen stiff and she could only stare at Mollis Somnus's gleaming fangs, especially the long fangs that distinguished him as a vampire. Vampirism was a trait of the Angels of Rebirth, and those terrifying fangs were drawing closer!

"If you want to be one of us so badly," hissed Mollis Somnus, "I can turn you now..."

Sakura squeaked and closed her eyes, turning her head away from Mollis Somnus.

The chamber was silent and Sakura only felt Mollis Somnus hovering near her.

A low sigh came from Mollis Somnus and Sakura felt his weight draw away. Her eyes slowly opened and she felt her body trembling uncontrollably. She was staring at Mollis Somnus, words failing her.

Mollis Somnus looked at her with a cold gaze. He snorted, "So gentle, even after such a long time spent down here..."

Sakura wished that her body would stop trembling. "B-but..."

Mollis Somnus produced an aggravated growl. "This is so troublesome. Why did he instruct me to do this? He knows how much I hate troublesome things..."

Sakura shook her head. "What are you talking about?"

Mollis Somnus fixed Sakura in his harsh gaze. "Noctis Timore instructed me to take you out of the Hallowed Hall and help you find a new home. Your powers of molding crystal would be valuable to most clans."

Sakura stared at Mollis Somnus, stunned. An Angel of Rebirth was going to help her leave the Hallowed Hall? He was to be her rescuer? She was speechless but her mind could only think:

I am going to have a home... I am going to belong! Somewhere! Oh thank you Mollis Somnus!
