Skylar greatly admires Tesla. He appointed himself a lab assistant, even though Tesla insists he doesn't need one (his electrified golem and bear do plenty of perfectly executed gruntwork.) Still, Skylar insists on barging into the lab and bumble around until Tesla gives him SOME task to do.

Lately Tesla has been sending him on longer and longer "lightning harvests," wherein Skylar has to travel to a certain region, and ascend into the clouds and fly around so that "nano lightning" will collect in his scales and scarf, and these particles are "essential" to Tesla's research. Fortunately, Skylar loves to fly almost as much as he loves being in the lab, so these missions have become essential for him, too.
