Kissa
Goddess of Maternal Love
Minor Goddess of Love
Caring and Kind
Protector

All Kissa cares about are the children. Are they safe? Are they healthy? Are they happy?

Children are important. Without children there would be no life. Because the children grew into adults like herself and the older gods. They then became new gods like herself. Children helped to bring order to the world. They helped the gods take on new tasks, and become more organized. The mortals too needed children. Because as the older mortals passed away the children grow and take their places.

Order. Order was important.

But Kissa didn’t just care for the children because of order. She cared for them because she loved them. Their was something about children that made them special. It wasn’t that they grew into adults. That actually made Kissa a little sad. It was something about children being children.

Children had so much life to them. They were carefree and both simple and brilliant at the same time. They saw the world in ways that Kissa and the other adults had forgotten

Children were innocent. They didn’t yet understand the horrors the world held. All they saw was the beauty.

And that’s why Kissa loved the children.

That’s why she knew she had to protect them.

She had to protect them from anything that would ruin their happiness or health.

And she tried.

But she failed.

She could not protect every child. There were too many, and too many who cared nothing for the children.

But Kissa had tried her best. Except with one child.

There was one child who she ignored.

Dios de Muerto.

She could have saved him. But she was afraid of him. Her mind refused to register him as a child. He was bleeding. Bleeding the black blood of demons.

She’s ashamed that she left a child behind to suffer.

She tries to forget about that moment. She bakes cookies and pies and takes care of as many children as she can. She takes damaged ones in and nurses them back to health.

But no matter how much care and love and kindness she shows to other children will never make up for the time she left Muerto.
