A nymph was making rounds one day along the frigid prison cells.
Dragon's blood painted on cubes of ice caught its attention.
The red glimmered like rare summer berries.
That's when Hail snatched it up.
It squirmed against her thumbs, felt the rot of her breath.

"Chew through my chains, then, I will not kill you."

The nymph was a funny little thing; it liked blood, it liked berries.
It saw no difference between the two, so Hail let it live.
She let it in on some secrets, and it writes down many new ones, which Hail uses.
The secrets harm the dragons she finds, kills them from the inside.
Hail finds it funny to see how they die; how claws and spines hadn't been what first hurt them.

She molts more quickly than most dragons of her kind, but her nymph seems to know something to help soothe the maddening regeneration process. Without relief, she's been known to commit far worse murders just for the distraction of them. The gore from these can take days to wash out, and longer for anyone who comes across them to forget.
