Day 1
SUNDAY
Dragon Name & Link or Widget: Captain
41792443_350.png
Elemental Flight of Dragon (Plague or Ice): Ice
Current Flight: Light
Clan Name (if applicable): Shady Grove
Brief background on your dragon's clan (one-two sentences will do): Shady Grove is a small strip of land directly south of the Hewn City. Originally a grazing route for its founder, a tundra, several dragons have now set up their dens along the path to form a loosely united clan.

Day 2
MONDAY
Name your dragon's profession: Travelling Merchant

For additional lore building, you can describe why you chose that profession and how it fits with your dragon.

Captain grew up in a clan deep in the Southern Icefields, isolated from the rest of dragon-kind save for the few hardened souls who passed (or were dragged) through on their way to the Rimebone Stockade. He longed for the day he could leave his clan, vowing to never settle down and stagnate like the rest of the dragons around him. As such, when he was finally able to leave, travelling became very important to Captain. Travel is what allowed him to see the world he'd once felt like he'd been locked away from and, eventually, became an important part of his job as a travelling merchant.

It started with Captain accepting some simple requests as he was on his way out of the Southern Icefields, asks to deliver things that were just a bit too large to be convenient to pay the courier dragons for: delivering packages from parents to their adult hatchlings, small parcels from one lover to another, the occasional item of clothing made with love from a doting grandparent. Then, he began ferrying such items from flight to flight, sometimes one friendly chat with his requestor later having a few coins pressed into his paw for his troubles. On his way from the Windswept Plateau to the Ashfall Waste, finding himself pressed for coin, Captain went to a courier center to see if he could find some work. With a friendly spiral grandparent around to vouch for his abilities, Captain got his first official job bringing a rick of bamboo to a construction zone in the Great Furnace. It was from this experience that the idea of being a travelling merchant occurred to Captain.

When he came to Shady Grove, Captain found a clan without much connection to the rest of the Sunbeam Ruins and without its own courier post or general store, located right on the border of three different flights. Finding the land there cheap and easy to live on he decided to make this his hub, where he would come back to rest in between delivery runs and keep his stock of goods. Now, not only does Captain have his own moderately successful delivery and sales service, but he brings trade and new ideas to the otherwise reclusive members of Shady Grove.

Day 3
Tuesday

Theme: Dressing Room

Task for today: Post a new look for your dragon! Head to the dressing room and create a new or altered outfit for your dragon.

For additional lore building, you can describe why you chose that look and how it fits with your dragon.

I think that Captain will have three main outfits! Here is his merchant garb, which he wears while selling his goods or when out and about:
41792443_350.png
Merchant-wear

He wears the above outfit when selling anywhere except the Ashfall Wastes, as it keeps him warm in relatively cooler climes. The below is what he wears while selling in the Wastes:

Wastes Merchant

I have one more outfit which he wears while on the go or working up a sweat:

I imagine he adds and removes his warmer clothing from his first outfit as needed :3

Day 4
Wednesday

Theme: Familiars

Task for today: Post a familiar for your dragon!
29064.png
Glitterfreeze Ambassador

For additional lore building, you can describe why you chose that familiar and how it fits with your dragon.

Captain met Sirske, a glitterfreeze ambassador, when he first set off from his birth clan. Sirske was his guide through the frozen wasteland of the Reclaimer's Glacier and between the Cloudscape Crags. As they traveled, the two had plenty of time to get to know each other along the way and, having his interest piqued by Captain's goal of traveling across Sornieth, Sirske asked if he could continue to travel alongside Captain. The idea of being ambassador of his clan to so many other dragons and beasts alike had been something he'd always dreamt of. Sirske has since become Captain's right hand man. He keeps watch over the shop while Captain is out, helps keep track of (and carry) inventory, plan out trips and much more. When he's not needed by Captain, Sirske likes to chat with other dragons and share his clan's long oral history with the dragons in the Southern Icefields. He makes sure to document any stories of the same kind shared in return, sending a copy back to his clan to add to their budding catalogue of written history. While Sirske enjoys getting to see the world and meet hundreds of new dragons and beasts every year, he still misses his family, and keeps in touch through the courier dragons. Captain has made sure to detour to the Southern Icefields every 7 years just so Sirske can reunite with his family and spend time swapping stories in person.

Sirske isn't currently equipped to Captain, but will be when I give Captain his permanent familiar :3

Day 5
Thursday

Task for today: Pick a Scene that goes with your dragon.
Scene: Rocky Refuge
tdaUsoH.png

For additional lore building, you can describe why you chose that scene and how it fits with your dragon.

I chose Rocky Refuge as his scene because I feel like it fits the landscape of his home best: perched right on a cliffside in a temperate region. (Funnily enough, it's also the only cliffside scene I was able to spot in the catalogue. Hoping for more scene variety in the future!) Ideally for me, this scene would be a bit brighter and have crumbled pillars rather than neat stones to resemble the Sunbeam Ruins a little more, but this works fairly well! I wanted his scene to depict his home as opposed to anywhere he sets up a booth/delivers to because it's the one constant he has in his life. Captain travels many places, but always returns to Shady Grove.

Day 6
Friday

Task for today: Pick a Vista that goes with your dragon.

I chose the grimoire vista!
Vista: Grimoire

For additional lore building, you can describe why you chose that vista and how it fits with your dragon.

With travel as a central theme in Captain's life, I looked for a vista that fit along those lines. The grimoire vista includes fluttering wings and books with drawings of dragons and other symbols in it, which fits just perfectly when I think of Captain and Sirske travelling together. The books in the vista look similar to what Captain and Sirske's travel journals might look like, especially considering Sirske documents the entwined histories of beasts and dragons he hears about. The wings are symbolic of all the travelling the pair do and are particularly fitting given Captain's own feathered wings.

Day 7
Saturday

Task for today: Add new content to your dragon's bio!
Write a minimum of 2-3 sentences or bullet points.

I'll add the writings I've done for this challenge, as well as add some more characterization. While I've explained a lot of what Captain does, practically, and some of the why, I haven't really fleshed out who he is as a dragon! The following will be added:

Captain is a very idealistic and romantic dragon. To leave your entire culture behind and move halfway across Sornieth, you have to be. Clinging wholeheartedly to his idealism against the world has made Captain incredibly self-reliant and, somewhat, obstinate and arrogant. Finding other dragons who share similar ideals has made him more affable and trusting of others, but he can be incredibly cruel to anyone he finds that doesn't think similarly. This is an issue which Sirske presses him on regularly, pointing out how much this mirrors the behavior he so hated in his birth clan. It's taken a lot of heated conversations with some dragons and beasts he's grown close to, but slowly Captain is softening up- truly melting his his icy heart.
