Shen

Before the Change:


General:
Shen is the clan's current and only Herbalist. He is a rather young spiral that just joined the clan and settled in nicely. This small spiral is still immature at heart and can be goofy and playful at times but most of the times his nose and claws are too busy tending earth and plants for him to notice things going on around him. He is a rather small spiral but don't let his size fool you, he is a hearty weight that gets hidden in his length. He is mostly found coiled around branches or in a coil on the ground like a snake. This hides his weight very well but in these positions as well as his lack of attention to the world outside of his plants, predators can easily ambush and attack the defenseless spiral.
He is Shao's main supplier for medical herbs and ingredients and she relies heavily on his expertise and luck on finding her rare and crucial potion components. The bond they forged from their passions has led to them finding interest in each other.
And if the gossip that spreads around the clan can be relied upon it is said that Shen is the only non Coatl dragon that can understand their language. Being with Shao and having to listen to her instructions carefully might have led to that.



Shen's Dwellings:
Shen's home is very very close to Shao's rocky home in a deeper part of the underwater forest. He has fashioned a large hollow ball of seaweed and underwater plants. They have been tied together with intricate planning and design. The ball resides in the middle of the lengths of the height of the seaweeds and plants, allowing the tips to sway and float above the ball, acting natural and hiding the location and the lower half of the plants still rooted into the ground provide a great anchor for the nest. The ball of woven plants is perfectly supported by the passing current as well as the anchoring of the plants that even in the ball, Shen is very very safe.
The entrance to the ball is well hidden on the underside of the structure, allowing entrance for only dragons smaller or the same size as Shen, the hole is well enforced and nicely camouflaged on the underside of the ball. The walls of vegetation are rather thick and keep many things out of them
Inside of the ball there are a few strong beams that help retain the spherical shape from the inside, there is a ledge all around the entrance of the ball where larger treasures and plants are kept, his bachelor nest is no nest at all and is actually a beam. Here he sleeps draped across the beam like a sleeping tree snake. He coils himself up and flops over the beam to tuck himself in.


Relationships in the clan:

Shen has paired himself with Shao and they are an official couple but like most dragons in the lair it is very common for every dragon to test or experiment with others. Shen does't really want to love anyone but his Shao but there is a dragon that keeps making moves towards Shen and the spiral is drawn towards the individual. The spiral seems hesitant in moving forward with the fling even though Shao commented on it and seemed not to mind.
Shen wouldn't be so unsure but because this cocky ridgeback named Otis is his traveling companion, bodyguard, and male, it makes the spiral confused about his inner feelings. He wants to explore with his companion which he spends a lot of time with traveling and exploring, but at the same time he wants to stay loyal to Shao just to show how much he loves her.
